Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
The weekly draw... The burden of my days I'm sure. I signed up last week too so i'm now officially in the same boat,
On this one it's quite simple, someone mentioned it before in a previous thread. We do not set the prizes they are controled externally, we had the same notice as everyone else. We posted the changes on the website for as long as we had notice, with no time to mail shot all members the club ran with it.
Yes the prizes should be posted properly, but it wasn't and to be fair we live and learn every day.
However like I emailed one chap who emailed me to complain, I was more inclined to join up knowing theres £25,000 thousand on offer once a season rather than £10,000 twice, It has been done to instigate more people taking up the draw, which as revenue for the club is a great benefit. Because although we may win money, each and everyone draw member puts money into their club. Winner .

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Welcome to the board Lew and the best of luck with your new position with Stanley.
I have a question for you. Last season, there was a suggestion that all Stanley's matches would be put onto DVD and by paying £250, the whole lot for the season could be bought. Individual games could also be bought for £10 each.
As I live far from Accrington and can't make home matches, I wanted to be able to take advantage of the £10 per individual match offer in selected instances (especially wanted the game at Torquay to see Gary Roberts last match for Stanley, and also the home game against Walsall). When I called the club and spoke to Lee, I was told that they would go away and find out about these DVDs, and ultimately, after several calls, I discovered the scheme had been abandoned, presumably due to lack of interest. However, to the best of my knowledge and belief, nothing was ever posted onto the website about dropping the idea.
I appreciate that there has to be a demand for this kind of thing and that without it, the costs would be prohibitive, but are there any plans to resurrect something similar ? I always think it was such a shame that there was no DVD available of Stanley's Conference winning season, the important match at Woking that clinched the title, and the celebrations and open top bus tour in Accrington (especially for those of us living far away). Such occasions don't come often and I just have to rely on my ever diminishing memory cells !
Many thanks in advance for your response.

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Your right, there has to be a demand, I'm not sure of the numbers of subscriptions we had for this, so I can't tell you why it was dropped.
However I would seriously take on board the idea going forward, which could take the form as pay per view via the website, or even downloadable to your phone maybe or to you inbox on your pc so you could either say yep i'll have that game or this game.
The discs have to be bought, worked and then either sold or distributed. It takes time effort and money if the demand is so small, Digital ages are here and now, fast and cost effective and they give you choice too.
The overall issue is the TV rights, because they do control our output. However it is something we will be exploring soon.

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
Would I be right in thinking that we record every game anyway for both TV and Coley watching? If that is the case then it shouldn't be a problem to run a copy off as and when somebody wants a certain game. Sometimes the drive for professionalism means overlooking the basics. Having already paid £13 to watch a game live I wouldn't then want to go and pay another tenner to watch it back. I wouldn't be interested in the pretty looking box, just the disc itself and I would pay a fiver. Kept at this level there would be a demand for certain games, develop the market first then put out the pretty box sets for shade more money.

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
I agree about DVD`s but i would prefer to watch live away games i cant get to live on the net, and also an end of season highlights DVD would be fantastic, as already mentioned we have nothing to watch of our Conference winning season, which would have been the ideal time to release such a DVD, not just for the regular fans but also all those that live overseas, and as also mentioned the games are recorded so why wasn`t it possible to produce an end of season DVD ?.

Items like this is why Lew has been taken on by the club although it is a year over due and so many oppurtunities have already been missed.

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
The DVD issue isn't as easy as you think, or we would already be doing it.
Firstly the game is recorded, but the rights are held by both the governing body and the different media partners.
Yes John coleman gets a copy, but that is contractual anyway, its an agreement so to speak,
We cannot just burn and run a DVD off and sell it, Basically I wont pass off unboxed DVD's as merchandise and charge a £5 for it.
The club wants to move on and look at different media avenues. Mobile technology, Internet based media, Not (and no offence) selling DVD's in a plastic wallet for a £5 a pop.
I would rather pay £5 and have a live game streamed through my PC or mobile which I could hook up to to a Plasma TV in my front room, for a full season than buy a DVD. You wouldn't even need to come down and buy it, You could click your mouse and recieve it there and then. (potentially)
Now surely this is the best way forward

A Plasma TV? Does Eric realise he's paying you that much?

I would think Lew has hopefully taken the pre-orders into account and that they will be available to be collected on Saturday looking at the wording on the Fishy site? But await confirmation Lew??

Living 87 miles away I managed 12 Stanley Games last season - 6 home and 6 away. I am all in favour of some affordable initative whether it be mail order DVD's or live link ups to help fill the inevitable gaps and bring revenue to the club.

Re: Some answers to all those questions your asking...
if I had pre-ordered one from the club and was unable to get it until the week after then I would be cancelling the pre-order and buying one from Worldchoice instead. When the shirt is available I want it and won't wait until a shop has had its weeks worth of exclusivety.
Will the media launch be in time for fridays edition of Observer and Telegraph? drum up a bit of hype for it maybe ......

Where on the fishy site is there a bit about pre=ordering the new shirts??? I understand the club wanted those likely to, to do a 'dummy' order to give them an indication as to the likely demand. But then again,I'm of work with pneumonia and are drugged to the eyeballs...
