Some questions from World Soccer magazine
Hello there,
We’re working on a World Soccer guide to the new season, called Football 2012, featuring all English League clubs.
We’re after the views of fans from each club. We’ve got some questions about your hopes/fears for Accrington next season.
Does anybody fancy answering them?
1. How would you describe last season?
2. What are your realistic hopes for next season?
3. Who was your club’s biggest hero last season?
4. And the biggest villain?
5. Is there a young player people should look out for?
6. What was your favourite song/chant last season?
We’ll publish the most informative and entertaining answers in the magazine, which comes out in a few weeks time.

Re: Some questions from World Soccer magazine
1. Last season was without a doubt one of the most memorable I can ever remember after supporting Stanley for almost 20 years. After losing our 3 strikers in the summer of 2010 (Grant, Symes & Kee) many of would have settled for 20th position and survival. What we achieved was quite frankly amazing considering the size and resources of the club.
2. As always the target for me is to avoid relegation, despite last season's playoff chase.
3. Jimmy Ryan for me without a doubt was and always will be a Stanley hero. He played in every league game, never giving less than 100%. If anybody deserves a chance at a higher level then it is him.
4. Ian Craney. Some people may disagree, but to play in the playoff's and run in when clearly not fit cost us, MASSIVELY. He looked un-interested to me, and MUST improve, simple.
5. Well seeing as we only have 5 players signed up so far my opinions are fairly limited. But I would say young central midfielder Alan Burton could make an impact after 2 years of bad injuries. He made his debut on the last day of the regular season at Burton Albion and looked the part in the middle of the park.

Re: Some questions from World Soccer magazine
1. How would you describe last season?
rather pleasing! we broke the all time Stanley clean sheet record and finished in our highest ever (post 68) position. Unbelievable
2. What are your realistic hopes for next season?
22nd will be acceptable, 20th will be dizzyfying 12th or above mindboggling. If Coleman carries on his record of improving his league position every year then I'm getting on to the Pope about Sainting him
3. Who was your club’s biggest hero last season?
John Coleman, without him we'd have sunk along time ago
4. And the biggest villain?
Joe Jacobson. In all honesty we'd probably have still lost, but his pointless sending off (that led to Mcconningville getting sent as well) robbed the Clayton End of the chance of roaring us home in the play off. 20 mins left and only two behind? easy peasy.
And he's Welsh.
And he's gone.
5. Is there a young player people should look out for?
Sean McConningville. Worth around half a mill but if we get a quarter mill at tribunal I suppose I'd settle for that.
6. What was your favourite song/chant last season?
"you're only here for the Stanley, here for the Stannnnnley" to the Burnley fans away at Burnley in the Save our Stanley fundraiser. (sshhh don't tell him it was actually the season before)

Re: Some questions from World Soccer magazine
We’re after the views of fans from each club. We’ve got some questions about your hopes/fears for Accrington next season.
Does anybody fancy answering them?
1. How would you describe last season?
Totally unexpected, but pleasurable to say the least
2. What are your realistic hopes for next season?
Anywhere above the relegation spots, however, if we could improve on last season that would be just out of this world
3. Who was your club’s biggest hero last season?
hard one to answer, the management (for their amazing record),Ilyas Khan for making the club solvent again, the players for the success they brought the club. Perm any one from three.
4. And the biggest villain?
McConville and Cisak for me. More money but not necessarily better chances. One a move down a division for money and one to a league higher but not much chance of being number one!
5. Is there a young player people should look out for?
Would like to have said Chris Turner, but I suppose it will have to be Alan Burton unless Sean Long comes back on loan from Burnley!
6. What was your favourite song/chant last season?
the one about more noise in Accrington Library when the opposition is losing.

1. How would you describe last season?
Epic! Thats the main word! No-one thought we`d do what we did and be up there! It was a crazy experience! Last season was very drunken aswell! More long trips next season though for more beer!
2. What are your realistic hopes for next season?
Mid Table. And maybe a good team in the cup. Anything more and id be surprised and overjoyed!
3. Who was your club’s biggest hero last season?
John Coleman And Jimmy Bell. Both heros that nearly got us promoted.
4. And the biggest villain?
Stevenage - The fans, the club and everything about them makes me angry! They robbed us of even trying to play a game of football at home in the second leg of the play offs!
5. Is there a young player people should look out for?
Id say Alan Burton. Could be a big hit this season! Coley thinks so and you can say hes not produced any gems!
6. What was your favourite song/chant last season?
All of them, we have a superb song book. Forza Stanley Ultras 04.
We’ll publish the most informative and entertaining answers in the magazine, which comes out in a few weeks time.

Re: Some questions from World Soccer magazine
1; The team trying to play the right way,and nearly pulling a shock promotion off.
2; Anything around 15th would be another major acheivement considering most of the team have left
3;The team for ignoring the off field problems and producing some unbelievable performances.
4;The pitch, which in the end cost the team,as when they had to go long they werent as effective(due to the team being full of midgets lol)
5;I have always championed Alan Burton, and i hope his injuries dont take the edge off him,but i will go for Dean Winnard, who if selected at centre half should go up another level.
6;Dodgy tan song always makes me smile

Re: Some questions from World Soccer magazine
I'd like to change my answer to number 6. In hindsight the "i predict a riot" at the Newcastle match ended up prophetically funny ......
