Re: Southend Match Thread........
Final score 1-1, not as good as a win but a damn site better than losing & against the 6th in the league, well done Lads.

Re: Southend Match Thread........
Really good game to watch with lots of fast paced back and forth action. Thought Dawber deserved his MOTM award with some stunning saves and confident keeping. Luke Joyce had a fantastic game - back to his best. Pieiro Mingoia brilliant again but that's the norm for him - always tenacious and forward thinking while working for the team (Kal Naismith could take a leaf from his book).
I thought we invited an equaliser through defending too deep all the way through the game. Fair result.

Can't dispute any of that summary, Thought young Dawber came off his line more in first 45mins, than Dunbavin has in his career, well done young man. By the way though, did anyone think the Southend corner that resulted in the equaliser was a rank bad call?? cos we sure did.

Re: Southend Match Thread........
Spot on, Shaker. I just have one comment. Richardson..........why? The worst performance in a Stanley shirt I have seen for a long time. He made absolute zero impact on the game, constantly letting their players waltz past him without a semblance of a tackle. What was JB thinking of keeping him on whilst Brown made 3 subs to take control of the game and when our only sub came at last we took off our player most likely to score, keeping the the useless red haired lump on until the end. I'm furious!

The throw-in directly before the corner was correctly awarded to us by the linesman only for the Cart Horse with the whistle to overrule him

The 'Cart Horse' had (1) Very little control over the game as a whole. (2) Had no idea whatsoever where Free-kicks and Throw-ins were to be taken from !...and (3)... .Must have come on the bus with Southend if his leanings towards them demonstrated throughout the game.
Agree that it was a point well-earned against one of the best teams to visit t'Crown so far this season.
From the obvious disappointment on the faces of the Southend Directors and their entourage, they expected to wipe the floor with the Reds......a satisfying sight to see !!...( Sadistic moi ?).
Now there's a strong smell of Fish in the air which needs obliterating on New Year's Day !.... so do it Reds !!

Re: Southend Match Thread........
Well I enjoyed the game, I thought also good for a neutral???
Thought a draw was probably a fair result in the end. Top marks to JB for playing 5 in midfield which nullified the Southend passing game for large periods.
Agreed Dawber, Mingoia and Aldred where all excellent. Fair play to young Andrew in goal, in only his second league start. One of his saves really was class. Well done lad.
Not sure I agree Joyce was back to his best from 2 years ago, but he is improved that's for sure.
Richardson has others have said really was poor. Looks very rusty and im not sure what JB see's in him, total passenger today for me. Im sure his loan is up come January anyway??? Not sure what Hatfield has done wrong?? A proven goalscoring Midfielder and cannot seem to get a sniff. Strange one for me.
I said before the game I would settle for a point which is exactly what we got. The unbeaten run goes on.
Bring on those trawlermen on NYD !!! Come on the REDS!

Re: Southend Match Thread........
Followed the game from a sunnier climate !,but unbeaten in three with five points is more than acceptable.
Sounds like we were playing well till we scored!!,and looking at there subs,it looks like Brown threw more forwards on and pinned Acci back.
Dawber and Aldreds performance suggests this was the case .must thank Dan for his commentary , felt I was there !!

Re: Southend Match Thread........
Got to say from where I was sat it was a game lacking any quality going forward from either side - fair play to the defence we kept them out well but we created nothing.
We scored a fluke free kick and then played 8 at the back with Bowerman up front (Richardson doesn't count as a player)
I would have taken a draw before kick off so fair enough but I cannot understand why we invited so much pressure by playing so deep and with such an incapable player as Richardson up front when we had Webber, Hatfield, McCarten and Windass available...

Re: Southend Match Thread........
Thought some of Richardsons turns we're good but yes looked rusty! But is it his fault? JB just randomly throws him on against a top 4 side after not playing a game for a long time! Unfair on him for me! Can someone tell me what Will Hatfield has done wrong?! He's one of our best players in the squad and doesn't even get a sniff!! Some of JBs decisions confuse and worry me sometimes!
With Lee on this one with Luke Joyce, not his best game but did ok! Him and Murphy got lost in the last 20 minutes and some of their touches and passing reminded me of our ultras team on a Sunday!
Thought Piero was great once again!! He's come on leaps and bounds with playing regular football and is looking a great winger!

Re: Southend Match Thread........
No matter whether Richardson has played recently or not it doesn't excuse his pathetic work rate. Whilst all the back four plus Joyce , Murphy, Naismith and Mingoia, in particular, were getting stuck in and tackling as if their lives depended on it he was strolling around the pitch like an absolute passenger. I find it incredible that he wasn't substituted at half time when we were still on top and even more incredibly when we were on the rack late in the second half.

Re: Southend Match Thread........
I would have to agree with Redraine.
Maybe he wanted one more look at him before he goes back???
To be fair to the lad I think his natural position is central midfield or the number 10 role behind the front man.
Just doesnt seem quite ready for me yet.

Re: Southend Match Thread........
The difference between the teams yesterday was Phil Brown made substitutes at the right time to put us on the back foot and we ended up trying to hit them on the counter attack as the second half wore on not good enough for the Home team in my eyes.
Too many high balls for my liking not so bad when we had Kayode as he would hold hold and bring others into play but with the current formation it doesn't work has to be ball to feet.
Two home games two points and a three game unbeaten run but should have been at least four points from the two home games if we are looking to climb the Table I am afraid.
