Re: Southend today

S'funny old game. Don't recall Mr.Brown complaining about the ref after the Stanley game, but what goes around, comes around, I guess.

Re: Southend today

Far from complaining about the ref on Saturday the Southend players seemed to be celebrating with him when the second 'penalty' went in - guess Mr. Brown doesn't like it much when the boots on the other foot so to speak

I agree with Phil Brown, if a manager thinks a match official has had a stinker of a match, then he should be allowed to voice his opinions without risk of FA punishment, after all the bad decisions at the Store First Stadium J B's tongue must be full of bite marks

I'm all for it but only after matches where a player never miskicks a ball, misses a sitter, doesn't get sent off for stupidity or the manager hasn't made a tactical cock-up or failed to pick the correct team to win the game

that's exactly the point Dave,
everyone makes mistakes, players & managers make errors and are openly criticised for doing so, but when a match official makes an error, managers are prevented from saying the official had a bad game, I fail too see what harm would be done by a manager saying a official had a bad game

Referees don't have an option to speak out in public about the performance of players and managers

Lets face it, if the players and managers actually set an example of fair play, most referees wouldn't even get noticed.

In fairness Dave How many referees enforce fair play? theres countless unpunished incidents by many players in ALL games, many of which are blatant, Diving is one instance n stanley have one of those who could win gold in the Olympics.

As I said, if players don't dive the referee doesn't need to enforce fair play

I doubt it, Cashey. He's nowhere near achieving the gold medal standard of the Premier League diver-divas. He's not that good at diving which is why he should stick to what he is good at....putting the ball in the net.

I was always under the impression the refs job was to ensure the rules were kept too? its the same principal with the law, break it n the cops will do yeh, unless yeh happen to be parking down Blackburn Rd.
