So have I got this right? The Council gives the club money and the club gives it back. Hmmm.
Are the training facilities and stadium actually owned by the council or are they part of Leisure in Hyndburn? This is a trust which manages the council's leisure facilities.

Therefore, if that's the case then the money wouldn't be going back to the council.

I know it sounds like a technicality but it does make a big difference.

Good point, Gayle. It's not clear, is it? Maybe I've misunderstood it, but it doesn't seem as though the club is getting a great deal out of it.

They are according to Eric;

Still don't get it. The sponsorship deal is for 19K over two years, so how does this save the club 20K each year? I'm sure it's a sound move, I just don't follow it.

Re: Sponsorship Deal With Council

The original article said £19,000 for 2 seasons but presumably means per season. It's then been rounded up by Eric

Playing facilities remain operate by the Council, not the Trust, same with the stadium.

Stanley fan and Tax-payer, not so sure I want the increase in my Council Tax to be paying for a professional club to train on public pitches which are already in a poor condition. I prefer to have the option to support the club by turning up tomorrow afternoon, especially if I look over and see Cllr's sat on a freebie!
But saying that I do agree Stanley is one of the only things this area has going for it and their success has a knock on effect so I do agree that HBC should be supporting it as best they can. Also without getting into a discussion on what the Council is called, what is the point of marketing Hyndburn BC on some shorts when the name may well change in the next 12/24 months?
Suppose the intent is right, but maybe not the methods.

Re: Sponsorship Deal With Council

Well thank you Hyndurn Council.....not only did you pull out of a sponsorship deal ridiculiously early in the season last time after the shirts had been sold but I suppose you had to wait until Gt Harwood town had convenentlly gone away before you deemed it politically acceptable to throw Stanley a few megre crumbs. Gt Harwood needed more help than Stanley do and what happened? nothing!

Some council get so involved that their local teams manage to have new stadia constructed....what do Hyndburn do ..the least possible

more pound shops and kabab houses anyone

a pox on them

I know we need the money but I can't get it out of my head that this move by Britcliffe has something to do with changing Hyndburn to Accrington & Districts.

Re: Sponsorship Deal With Council

I think for the non-Stanley fans there should be a tier system. Those who don't like football should pay double and those of us who live in Accy and have the audacity to support another team should pay triple.
