Re: Stanely badges
Badge 1)
To my knowlege and saw several of these in the 70's but nobody would give them away; is the supporters club badge from the 50's. Guess Jack Barrett would be able to confirm
Badge 2)
No idea, not my era, but would guess late 80's early 90's
Badge 3)
Now I can give you the lowdown!!
I commissioned this in the early 80's ( exact date to follow) to add to the items in the Stanley shop. If you think today's range is small in my days we did pens, rosettes and badges!!
I thought of the design ( can't remember what my inspiration was) and got a company called TN Priest in Birmingham to make them) These were metal and had the companies name on the back. I'll try and remember how much I we sold them for.
Later as these sold out, Alan Harker ( Commercial Director at the time of the TRA company) decided he could get the same design badge made cheaper, so he arranged that. Difference was they were made of plastic. That I guess would explain the different styles.
I know I have one of the orginal metal badges, and several of the plastic ones
Trust this helps
If indeed there are now 60+ ASFC badges in existance it once again shows how far we have come as a club, because nothing would have been produced in the 60's or 70's.

badge 2 there are apparently two variations of, Kipax has a collection of pics on his site and he says the two are different but they look the same to me! I was also amazed at the price on ebay as I considered getting it to have a spare for some reason.
I wasn't aware of any differences on badge 3 but I think mine is the gold backed one
nah, I wasn't being sarky about the brew thing as I realise we all have time restrictions but whenever you have a spare half hour or summat then I'll nip round.
Just found another one. I think this is a late eighties Supporters Club one but I could be wrong. Its a big 38mm one instead of the usual 25mm

The one I have that you did the design for is metal but doesn't have the company name on the back
Is mine worth more?

Re: Stanely badges
Anyone interested, badge No1 is currently for auction on ebay, be prepared to pay high if you're interested because I want this and I know another collector has a big budget for it too.

Re: Stanely badges
Not a happy bunny at the moment, basically being a Stanley badge collector with a limited budget I am not impressed that the OSC is buying up badges on ebay using OSC funding at silly prices.
It's got to the point where sellers I'm sure have had the nod that silly money is available and I suspect are bidding up badges themselves. This did not need to happen as myself and other collectors where willing to let the OSC loan badges for the exhibition.
To me it feels like Chelski buying all the young players from teams like Stanley just because they can, why do it. The OSC has now alienated the small collectors to the point where the little man can fight back with the only thing I can do and withdraw my offer of loaning any badges, sorry but I will say it again this did not need to happen the badges where there for you to use but the exhibition money was obviously burning a hole in your pocket.

Re: Stanely badges
oh dear oh dear Bagpuss.
I did send you a PM stating my intent to bid for one of the badges (that I would or could bid for myself) that I would subsequently sell back to you (or first refusal). I also gave you my mobile number so that we could discuss it.
(not) OSC funds ensuring that highly collectable memorabilia stays within the Stanley family? Can't see owt wrong with that myself.
I suppose it is OSC funds bidding up badge number one as well is it? well no it isn't as it goes because I already have that one.
no need for this particular post Bagpuss.

I disagree, I had a point to make, no malace intended I just thought the OSC did not need to bid for any badges because there was enough coming your way for the exhibition for free.
If you want to bid for something try this, it WILL get a few more on the Clayton End next season and its cheap, so no need to inflate the price.

Wish that was true baggy, there has been a few donations but not an awful lot of response to pleas made for memorabilia, so means we have not much option but to purchase them so that least the stuff acquired that way come home to Accy

Re: Stanely badges
sorry you feel that way bagpuss, you have to remember that the way ebay runs the bidding process has changed and you can no longer see who the current winning bid is from as you could before, so how are we supposed to know if it is you, who kindly offered to lend your collection. It could've gone to someone who would not be so generous and it is not just about the exhibition it is the longer term investment which eventually will lead to more money in the club!
I hope you will reconsider your decision
hmm just re-read that and it sounds a proper brown tongue post
