well, for what it's worth, I am one of the (so far) 2 to have voted No. It's not that I don't have "the balls", rather that I have a life outside AccyWeb unlike some on here
Like it or not, in a lot of cases these players are young kids a bit starry eyed about playing football for a living. The clubs (
not ASFC) are multi-million pound business run by very sharp businessmen.
Would you know how to negotiate a contract to best advantage? Would you buy a house (for example) without taking legal advice, when buying a house is a fraction of the worth of a premier league players wages?
So why should you expect someone like David Beckham or Wayne Rooney to operate without an agent?
And whether the club pay or the player pays, is a moot point. If the player pays, then the charge just gets added to the signing on fee, wages. Like someone says: ultimately the public pays.
If ASFC choose not to pay agents fees, that is our right. But then don't come on complaining that we haven't signed a big goalscorer
