Stanley bid for Symes
From LET
Accrington Stanley boss John Coleman would like to bring Micheal Symes back to the club next season - but he is still waiting to find out whether he can keep the striker for the last two gaes of the current campaign. The Shrewsbiry striker's month loan expired at the weekend and Coleman is hoping to overcome financial restrictions to extend the deal, with Craig Lindfield currently his only other striking option. The reds boss has alos confirmed he is interested in signing Symes permanently in the summer " he's a good player and he'll get better as he plays more games" said Coleman

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
I hope he dos'nt sign Symes. He has been at many Clubs and never done anything. He is not the answer to our striking problems.

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
Symes has only been a permanent signing at 3 clubs previously, including his time as a youth player at Everton.

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
We got Jimmy he's like the lower league version of Gerrard/Lampard!
So am sure we can find the lower league version of Shearer!

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
Took his goal well at Grimsby but apart from that I remain to be convinced.

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
I think we've had enough 'non-scoring' strikers and it's time to find someone whose job is soley to put leather on leather and break the net

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
We might be lucky to have players with 2 legs next season, so we can't be too picky.

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
I don't think it's unfair on Symes or Lindfield to say that they have been the last resort of struggling League 2 clubs for the past couple of years. Indeed they are both giving their best for Stanley in their time here - and all credit to them for it - but the club should be in a position now as an established League side to be competitive in the transfer market.
I feel sorry for Coley. If our financial situation wasn't so laughable (ignoring £200k of investement, accounts not filed etc) he could be chasing the signature of a player like Danny Carlton, not settling for unwanted players. That's probably not fair and certainly only speculation, but it's what fans are reduced to when there seems to have been so many missed opportunities by the club over the past few years to advance as a professional outfit.

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
I like Lindfield think he works very hard, Ok we could do with someone like Gornell along side him, I'd like to see Lindfield back next year along with another striker who can get 20 goals a season.

Re: Stanley bid for Symes
You'll get Mullin back next season, but the 20 goal a season striker will be harder to get.
