Stanley Directors.

I noticed in the programme that one of our Directors is called Mark Turner.

One of my classmates at QEGS, supported Stanley and was called Mark Turner.

I've kept an eye out at home matches to see if I could see him, though I think he now lives in the Midlands.

He'd be about forty/forty one now, and use to have blond hair, though now he might be bald.

Mark if you read this, or if anyone knows him, please get in touch, it would be great to catch up.

Thanks.

Re: Stanley Directors.

I remember when he was at school he did some work for Stanley, so it might be him.

Re: Stanley Directors.

Don't want to go off topic, but, 40+ years ago, I worked on the next bench to Eric... what a 'sweat shop' that was!! He's about 5 yrs older than I am, & main thing I remember from those days was how helpful he was to a raw 19yr old, trying to earn enough money on 'piece work', to enable me to get married a few months later!!
Over the intervening years, I followed his progress, at Rishton CC, etc. etc.
(well documented) with interest.
It was only when a certain Mr Alty bought my house, in 1998, that I became aware of Eric's interest in Stanley. I followed their results for a couple of years, as an interested 'outsider', until, prior to the Unibond championship, I acquired a new son-in-law, who, along with his mates, encouraged me to attend a couple of games. I have been an 'ever present' since then, certainly at home games (with work commitments, as much as I would like it, no chance of going away).
I am now, a totally commited season ticket holder, & will be looking forward to local 'derbies' against our fellow Lancashire teams over the next few years. I can't wait until I retire, when I can, hopefully, join the away coaches on a regular basis!!

Re: Stanley Directors.

As a newcomer who's only been coming to Stanley for about eleven years I can tell you that I'm still unaware of the names of many people in Stanleydom,

Example , a couple of weeks ago I had the pleasure of standing in the Sports Bar next to a young man whose name I got wrong .

Never a good start to a conversation , is it ? I felt so embarrassed .

However , he was very forgiving , friendly and a really great companion for the short time I spent with him .

His name ? Mark Turner .

Upon checking , I found that Mark is a now Director of ASFC .

This bodes well for the future .
