Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009
ON the STANLEYS ON indeed... Today the HN STANLEY fair dinkum lashed fellow HN team the ACES, 5-0. I know I'm biased, but we played some very clever, intelligent footie. The result lifts us to second, 2 pts behind Maycenvale Hotfoots who had the bye today. However, they still have to play us and the HN Cyclones (the team thats never lost). We have the same points as the Cyclones, but a superior goal diff.

Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009
Try this...but its updated at irregular intervals, usually on a Wednesday (our time). You can also check all the other leagues, mens, womens, kids (10 th grade and up.). Below 10th grade, they've introduced this 'small sided games' lark which I think is OK for little 'uns, but don't want to see it for 11-13 year olds...

Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009
Our traditional 'slow start' continued and Western Rangers punished HN STANLEY in the 3rd minute with an 'soft' goal. Then we decided to play and ran out 5-1 winners.
Should've been 10 but for some woeful finishing. Top of the league side Maycenvale Hotshots were un-done 3-0 by our fellow club side the Cyclones 3-0.The wash up from all that is we are now top , about 7 goals better diff than the Cyclones.

Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009
Yes, they are aware,as far as kids remember or care about such things. aAfew of the parents ask me about the club on a regular basis ,one in particular is a big BIG wig with a major international NZ/Aus bank....incidentally the dreaded Cyclones have one of equal standing with another major bank..

Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009
Not a good result yesterday...HN Stanley played the leagues most improved team, Hastings Rovers. Prior to K/O, STANLEY had conceded just 3 goals. We were off to an unusually beaut start with a neat strike from our top player FINN. They equalised.1-1 at the break. 15 minutes into the second spell,(and playing without our regular centreback,) HASTINGS powered through the middle and netted 4 times !. Down 1-5, I was off to the nearby river to 'sleep'. Then, with 10 minutes to go, it started. Brilliant play and a "Never say die" attitude got us back 1,then 2, the, 3 goals to trail 4-5.Then right on the dot of fulltime, Henry slammed home the 5th from 3meters to make the final score 5-5. UNBELIEVABLE !! The sad fact is we slip from 1st to 3rd and unlikely to catch the CYCLONES as they have the 'easier' run in.Still , we'll be going hard.
Thats the 4th just gone in..
