Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009

Oh dear...our title asoirations are ,being realistic, all over.Today we played the other side in REAL contention ,Maycenvale Hotfoots, and were held to a 1-1 draw. WE HIT THE &^*#^*(&^%*#^ POST 8 times!!!!!!! The goal we got was an own goal.,theres was fair enough, but 1 of only 2 shots they had on target. We are now actually 4th, but are undefeated...School holidays now, so we can't get back on track till 25th. Looks like those dam CYCLONES will go through undefeated and take the friggan championship. Best we can realisticaly play for is 2nd. Thats our target now.

Never say never Kiwi, the team are doin' you proud, may not be top, but undefeated, you can never tell. Football is a funny old game (Jimmy Greaves I believe said this a long time ago). To quote another party closer to Accy "Keep the faith". C'mon the Kiwi Stanleys

Keep your hopes up, there's always a chance the other teams can slip up.

There's a bit on the fishy site including a link to this message board.

A well-deserved plug for John and his lads and perhaps an omen of a more inclusive attitude towards the fans!

Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009

HN Stanley resumed its season with a nail biting 3-1 win over the big Haumoana Hunters. We led 1-0 before slack defence allowed the 'Hippies' to steal one. With 5 minutes to go, and after countless chances on our part, we scored a ripper and 2 minutes later added the killer blow with another well excuted effort. Final score 3-1. We deserved it, but my hair turned grey for a while. Played 9, won 6 drew 3, 34 for, 10 against.21 points. Up to 3rd.

Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009

Today the HN STANLEY trounced their fellow club team ,the PUMAS, 5-0. It was a very solid effort by our lot, though they had a few chances. Our keeper got MOM as today he looked the most compedant he has all season-never looked in danger of being beaten.
So, thats all 3 fellow club sides we've played now. Cyclones (0-0), Aces (5-0) and todays effort. Thats 3 games without conceding a goal,a target we set at the start of the season. Three games and a 9 aside tournament to go.
On the STANLEYs On.

Keep it up the HN Stanley's - 2 successful teams either side of the globe with the Stanley name, lets hope so. At least your lot have kept their side of the bargain.

Re: STANLEY 'downunder'-2009

WHEW !! This morning we played the second bottom side, Hereworth (local private school-public in your parts?). We played them in the season opener and won 6-1. Today we totally dominated, but scrapped home 4-2.They weren't good, but our finishing was poor. Still undefeated with two games and a tourny to go.

The whole team and their parents wish the REAL STANLEY all the best. for tonight. I can assure you their are alot more Accy Stan supportershere now than 12 months ago.
ON THE STANLEYS ON.
