By definition, a legend is someone famous about whom stories are told. So let's change it to a "Great Stanley Players Of The Last Ten Years" team.

Just to follow on from TM, is this a proposed event, or are we just passing the time between games?
In my eight years there's probably been a higher proportion of "legends" as various players have starred in the return to the League, but I can't really supply a long term perspective.
There's been a load of players who I've loved watching, Russell Payne is a big favourite. But Jamie, Jonathan and Lutel stick out along with Mike Marsh; JC himself, if only for his recovery time , I could go on.
Plus, of course, the two legends that are Paul Mullin and Rocky Williams.

I'd agree with you there. There aren't many true legends mentioned in this list.
However, my point was that not many people who post on the messageboard will remember Hargreaves, and that point still stands.

I'd agree TM, there's a certain amount of inflation in topics like this, and heavily biased towards the recent past. But if a team could be assembled to play against, or mixed up with, the present squad I'd pay good money.
It'd be a lot more fun than the meaningless pre season friendlies

Re: Stanley legends
Talking of legends, can I wish a speedy recovery to Brett Ormerod who apparently is having surgery for a fractured cheekbone sustained in Saturday's game. How much bad luck can one player have in his career

yes Oggy, the point of the thread was for you lot to supply a list of players who could theoretically play in a match.
As part of the OSC Open Day there will be an Ultras V Legends game. This will kick off around 1:30-2pm, and be half hour each way with a break for half time (and prob 3/4, 4/5 time as well). If nothing else it will make for cracking drinking after!
Squad of 24 submitted ..................

Bit fierce that Macca, but Alan Rogers if he's fit enough, unless the Ultras have a left back.

Re: Stanley legends
fierce? not in the slightest. Sorry if it came across that way.
unfortunately Rogers can't play in the match as we have him booked for the standing long jump (two footed) competition
