Stanley Plate

I've recently obtained this plate and wonder if there's any memorabilia experts who could estimate how old it is?

Re: Stanley Plate

Ask Harwood Red, she is doing an exhibition of Stanley memorablilia, she may find out for you, but may also be interested in display for the exhibition.

Re: Stanley Plate

It's no antique and that's for sure. The 1891 date on the back is standard for Royal Falcon Gift Ware. Did you get it on E-bay? I'm not being funny here, but it's quite grotesque isn't it?

No it's not from E-Bay and it's definitely not the best quality Stanley souvenir ever made. I realise it's no antique but just wondered whether it was pre 1962 or post 1968?

Re: Stanley Plate

IMHO it is mid-eighties as that is when there was a little 'boom' of memorabilia (very small runs of oddball stuff'). The colouring on the crest also suggests a later period as pre-62 stuff seemed to have darker reds than the pinky red we see now.

I'm doing the memorabilia side of things for the exhibition and would be quite happy to display it for you if you wish?
