when there's 5 guys surrounded by 35,000; separated from the "others" by walls, wire and stewards and police it's a lot easier to hurl vitriolic abuse than when there's 5 of you, 5 of them, separated by twenty feet of open concrete and man with a dog. You'd better be at least humorous if you wish to trade insults.
As a "local" team supporter, you'd still sell a little of your soul to a sugar daddy to stand there and watch your boys thump Barca in Camp Nou in the European cup, even just once.

My friend Godwin went on-loan to Accrington last season. The welcome in the Bar after game will live long with me. As someone who goes to both Everton and Liverpool games usually, it was amazing to see the kinship between fans and players.
More power to them.
