Re: Stanley try to sign Paul mullin
What wil be will be but:
In League Two I doubt there are many better target men than Paul
Especially if we continue with the five man midfield we need someone who can hold the ball up and lay it off and bring players/runners into play while also easily hitting double figures themselves.
if it was Short term or long term he will never let anyone down

Re: Stanley try to sign Paul mullin
Seems I may be in the minority here, but I reckon this is worth a punt. Against Shots we didn't look likely to score and Mullin does have a pretty good track record in that department. OK, not a long-term solution, but as a short-term fix until JC and JB can get a more permanent striker in place (ideally, one that scores goals, doesn't get injured and quite fancied hanging round for over 12 months), I think we could do a lot worse.
For example: Evil.

Re: Stanley try to sign Paul mullin
three attacking midfielders who can all strike a ball running onto short lay-offs from the big man? I'd have him back in a second.
... but I wouldn't want to see us revert back to the 'whack it up to the big guy' kick and run crap that we always seem to do when a game is running away from us

I was under impression reason Paul Mullin was sold was cos his wages were beyond what the club could afford to pay? is this wrong?

Re: Stanley try to sign Paul mullin
Mullin has more than the long-ball to his game, I've seen it on many occassions. It wasn't Mully's fault we lamped it up to him, it's because the players didn't have the quality in the league.
Now though the team reminds me of circa Unibond days without a proflic striker.
Enter Mr Paul Mullin!!!

Exactimundo. With them whippersnappers in attacking midfield doing all the running, all Paul would have to do would be what he does best - hold the line. He was isolated in the old way of playing, I don't think he would be now. I think Coley is on to something here.
It isn't about reliving past glories, it's about getting the best person for the job. I think Mullers is. Don't care if no one else does.
I also think Rory & Craig would benefit greatly from the big man's presence.

Re: Stanley try to sign Paul mullin
Plus surely Paul deserves to get to the remarkable tally of 200 goals for the club. Only 3 more goals to go.

Before I had fully analyzed your post Shaky (still half-asleep!), I thought for a moment that the rascal Prendergast had slipped back into the squad !..... and shuddered ! .

How? don't think he'd last 3 seasons.

Witty, but cruel, Cashers.
In the absence of an experienced 20 year old, standing 6'4", weighing 14 stone of rippling muscle, and the shooting boots of Bobby Charlton, I don't see what's to lose.
If JC thinks Mr Mullin can do a job for him then I'm willing to believe. Certainly Paul Mullin can't be blamed for the 'agricultural' style of distribution preferred by some of Stanley's past players.

Cheers Mab, just what i thought, the point here is those that are saying "Have Paul Back" must have very short memories or Alzheimers, no-ones knocking his contribution to the reds, but his wages are outa stanleys remit, its that simple.

On the wage front, it would have to be some sort of Bellamy type deal, even then I have to think we would struggle...
