Stanley v Cardiff

If it wasn't for bad luck, we would have No luck at all.

Thats a pants draw! At least we're at home, though I expect Mr T may need a cup of tea and a sit down in a darkened room given the reputation of their 'fans'. I remember being a steward when they came in preseason a few years back and they were fighting themselves!

Re: Stanley v Cardiff

I've wanted Cardiff in a cup drawer for a few years now but I wanted it away from home so we could win and take some money off the Welsh into the bargain. This is a winnable tie so we should now look forward with optimism. Could well be televised.

Premier League new boys at home? I'd consider that a good tie. They aren't exactly overrun with household names so I wouldn't imagine it drawing a huge crowd (by our standards) but hopefully it'll be a telly match. Looking through the draw I would have thought that only Morecambe v Newcastle or Doncaster v Leeds seem like particularly appetising games.

Win this and get a bigger draw in the next round please

Donny v Leeds is same division so can't see that being attractive to Sky

Sky tend not to do the same club twice in a row.
ITV and the BBC do, but Sky like to add variety.
The only thing which may work against us is the televised game Vs Pompey being so close to the 2nd round dates.

I'll take that. A battle of Britain with a top flight side at home. Looking forward to it.

we've got Burton on the friday night following so maybe no scope other than a Tues game, unless Sky cross our palm with much gold of course.

Re: Stanley v Cardiff

Decent draw for Stanley home game Premiership side can't really ask for more.

Not quite sure how it would work fixture wise but Burnley also take on PNE in the next round so that may also have a bearing on the night of the fixture as well as Cardiff playing against City on the Sunday.

Michael Liddle on Cardiff:-
"take out any team with the accy ultras behind us lad!"
Aye, 'twas a great feeling for the Accy 187 noisily leaving the Riverside Stadium on Tuesday. The prawn sandwich brigade at Old Trafford can keep winning their boring Premiership titles - they can't even begin to feel the same sense of achievement we had that night!

I think it's a decent draw. They'll be more interested in Premiership survival this season than the league cup,so i can see them putting a reserve side out and Stanley beating them!
