Stanley vs Hartlepools United, 1938

Hi there, Hartlepool fan here.

For the last few years I have been developing a database/website centred on my own club. As part of that I have had to gather up opposition lineups and goalscorers for more than 4000 matches. I'm almost there, having pretty much nailed all of the Football League games, and I'm just hoovering up the last remaining odds and sods.

Here is my Stanley page:

http://www.inthemadcrowd.co.uk/cgi-bin/itmc_view_team.asp?viewop=1&oid=1

Pools and Accrington (in whatever guise) have met 67 times over the years and I have the required information on 66 of those matches. I am missing the Stanley lineup and scorer from the FA Cup tie played at our place on 26th November 1938, a game that finished in a 2-1 victory for Pools. If anybody is able to supply this information it would be much appreciated.

All the best for the new season. I've only been to your place once but I enjoyed my visit and I look forward to returning in the future.

1. Robertson
2. Hamilton
3. Hall
4. Randle
5. Johnson
6. Webster
7. Rattray
8. Alexander
9. Gastall
10. Dooley
11. Neal

goalscorer for us was Alexander.

weather was cold and drizzly with a light north easterly breeze

attendance was 7,068

the pies were a little brunt, and the bovril was goddamn awful, bit like dubbin with a frothy head

no probs John, i've been doing something similar, but i wasn't daft enough to want to put in the opposition as well!

And there I was suspecting you'd just made up 11 names at random ...

a bit off piste I know, but it was half-time mugs of bovril that caused me to suffer attacks of gout. How I miss the bovril (and similar) - but at least I'm ready if JC needs me to bring my boots along in case !
