Re: Stevanage

What with all the glee at the result, hardly anyone has commented on the game ..... my two pennorth, seeing them rarely, I was impressed by Clark's attacking down the right in the first half, if less so by his crossing, and also Donacien overlapping McConville down the left. McConville's crossing radar also a bit off on the day. Second half the greatest threat was McCartan down the old inside-right channel which led directly to the first two goals, though we could have had a few more if the ball had sat up nicely for someone in any of the many penalty area pinball games. Blinding save from Rodak at 1-0 up, otherwise looked secure apart from a nervewracking almost letting go in the first half. And not sure whether I was more impressed or worried by Beckles' confidence on the ball around the edge of our box ....

My football brain doesn't register competent defensive performances but I'm sure there were many, as I was rarely worried by the Stevenage attack.

Overall, it was a grand day out!

Re: Stevanage

Chimer,
I may be wrong, and I know that the 'highlights' on the Sky web site show it being made after Stanley's first goal, but I recall Rodak making his full-stretch save when it was 0-2.
A two goal lead often proves to less certain than it appears and I remember thinking that, had it gone in, it would have made for a very nervy last few minutes for Stanley. But, whenever it occurred, it was a tremendous save.
