Re: Stevenage thread

Dour game lightened up by a class finish from Supermac

As Cashy has said the Ref lost the plot particulary in the second with some bad descions, leading to some rash challenges, some great acting and a wide spectrum of handbags on show

Midfield passing was a little off the pace

Special mention to Kevin Long who I thought had a very good game whilst just doing the simple things but he is now beginning to mature and is a good addition to the back four looked who were all fairly solid today.

Three valuable points, a clean sheet and whilst not being a great game it moves up back in the right direction.

Onwards & Upwards

Re: Stevenage thread

first time for a while that i have seen a team try and intimidate and bully Acci like that, they didnt deserve anything from the game and Acci got sucked into there tactics.
Disappointed that on a few occasions Acci players pulled out of a few tackles and they took heart from this ( no names ).
On the plus side i thought Long had a good strong game and looks like hes finding his feet now,

So the defensive woes are now behind us ? Or is there still work to be done ? Bradford were beaten today but Port Vale won theirs & these are pretty prominent games in the near future.

Re: Stevenage thread

Agreed. I thought Long would have deserved the man of the match award.

Re: Stevenage thread

was solid today a the back, and was good to see the centre backs being strong with the fullbacks covering when defending and giving width when attacking, they have obviously worked on defending on the training ground and keep there shape under pressure

Agree 100%, our crew commented today on just that. shame the main option was hoof the ball this aft, they seem to copy what style the away team play to me.

Re: Stevenage thread

No disrespect meant, but I wouldn't want to watch Stevenage every week. The ref also left a lot to be desired. He could also have done with being a bit taller as well. I couldn't see him in the middle of the players when the trouble started. I thought he'd gone off.

I haven't left yet, so for your consideration, here's what Mr. Coleman thought:

Re: Stevenage thread

Massive 3 points today, and nice to look at the league table again.

Holroyd should have had a red without a doubt, Roberts was as crap and annoying as he was when he played for us. Without a doubt they came for a draw, and massively pleasing we managed to break them down.

Agreed the ref was clueless, however was superb to see the defence looking relatively solid again. Long had his best game in a reds shirt from when I have seen him.

Jimmy different class, his ball in for mcconville was just superb. Good finish aswell.

Roll on the short trip to Bradford on Tuesday.

Re: Stevenage thread

Stanley hanging onto a lead? I must be dreaming. Stevenage had plenty of approach play but couldn't breach our back line, where I was really chuffed to see Long impress with a battling display. He looked well fired up! Great goal by McConville, but people round me were calling for him to be subbed prior to that. The goal perked him up, as he looked out of sorts with himself earlier, so let's hope he can carry that into the Bradford game. I really don't enjoy having criticised his game recently so I 'll be happy to eat my words if he keeps popping them in.

It was quite a knock he took against the advert board earlier on the game aswell.
Well done stanley - bring on "massive Bradford" (in their own words)

I told you that you would have a different opinion when he scored the winner, he just scored it 23 mins earlier......
