Just seen the goal from Proc, nice strike, through loads of legs, the kind that we usually concede late on!!!

Good to see the lads battling again!!

Re: Stevenage Thread

I was listening to BBC Three Counties on the way back from the match where they replayed the bits of commentary when the goals went in. There's a lovely bit after Stevenage's second goal: "Stevenage have surely made the game safe now".

If you want to listen on iPlayer, it's the 5pm show at about 34:45.

Shame we couldn't get a third, really...

I've stood on the Clayton End and said similar things about Stanley many a time...

...only to regret my words later.

Possibly the fact that we got into the league before them and they had been refused some years ago. They also think our ground's not very good (well we can agree with that one, but we are getting there) and basically coz they is soft southerners

at a guess I'd agree that it stems from us winning the Conference - but not initially sour grapes over the ground.

Confguide forum was particularly rife with Welshies from Hereford who despised the fact that we beat them to the title. They took every opportunity to ridicule and abuse our club, fanbase and ground. Probably due to the fact that they were prominent posters on that site many others jumped on the bandwagon and we got abuse from everywhere - notably the season after from Oxford fans who had never crossed any kind of sword with us.

We would be the first to admit that the conduct of our club over the past 4 or 5 years has left much to be desired and wouldn't endear us even to a Tao monk, however, there is a post on the Stevenage site to the effect that " i'm not even sure why I despise Accy so much, other than what i've read from other posters on here ....." he goes on to say that we lived up to his expectations.

The club I began to support was everyones favourite 2nd club - little old Accy Stanley, but the running of the club is fast making us a laughing stock and a hate target. Jog On Do'n.

Re: Stevenage Thread

CREDIT TO THEIR STEWARDS.

Just to add the Stewards down at stevenage were brilliant albeit only having to control 119 Stanley fans.

We did ouR thing for 90 minutes singing, standing generally going nuts and they left us to it. in fact at one point when were blasting out a rendition of our amicable italian number the two stewards at the front were tapping along and laughing at our crazy antics and yes there were some dodgy boogies occurring.

More importantly, the only time they had to be a 'steward' was to ask, i'd say 3 or 4 times early on, for people to get their feet off the seats which is understandable but the way in which they asked for the such is something that our stewards need to learn from. It wasnt an aggressive, hostile and an 'oi get your bloody feet off now' they interacted in manner that stewards should.

At the end of the game they looked actually congratulated us, they looked pretty happy that we had clawed back from 2 0 down, we shook hands and they wished us a safe journey home. We left happy, they left happy.

Thats how it should be.

Re: Stevenage Thread

I agree with AsFc. Their stewarding was a credit to the club: friendly, helpful and professional. It just confirmed what others have said about them on the Football Ground Guide. Other clubs could learn a lot from them.

And, for anyone planning a trip in the future, parking is both convenient and free.

Re: Stevenage Thread

fair play to the stewards then! perhaps those who do go to plenty of away games could begin some sort of stewards league table?

also there was a post on the stevenage borough (just to wind them up) that gave credit to our small band of fans for the constant noise they made for so few numbers.

... so nothing new there, then!

If they're not Stevenage Borough any more what's the 'B' for in the SBFC on all the stewards' jackets?
