I first visited as a ground hopper a few seasons ago, sat in your main stand and once our accent had been sussed, made very welcome. It was cold, and a fairly tame 1-1 draw with Yeovil, but the visit left a lasting impression.
When I had a walk behind the home terrace, I was impressed with the fan zone, and it gave the impression of a club really in touch with its fan base.
It was obvious yesterday that you had raised the bar since that first visit. Division higher and catering for larger numbers. New stand on the far side, and extended the away terrace. Plenty of places to get a drink and something to eat. Toilets temporary but I'm sure that's all in hand.
You should indeed be very proud of what you've achieved!
Just a few points about the game. The "dark arts" thing is something we all accuse other clubs of when we're losing, and we all think we're a bit honest compared to other clubs, but in reality we all do it when it suits us.
I was a bit surprised at Colemans summing up, but I don't really need to elaborate, as quite a few of you have disagreed with him already.
My Accrington supporting mate (is that you AndyD?), said you were struggling in the final third prior to the match, and that proved to be the case for both of us for the most part on the day. We only really had the goal and a shot saved from the angle from Cavare in the first half and you the early shot and deflected cross.
I don't think there really was a "better team for 65 minutes". It was pretty even and we both pressed mistakes out of each other and traded possession.
With a man short, some of our previous managers would have shut up shop, but we don't mind playing on the break so a stretched game suits us better than playing against 10.

I had to miss the match on Saturday but reading the praise for our great little club and supporters on the Barnsley forum has gone a long way to make up for it.

Think Accrington Stanley have many thousands of fans Cashy.
Trouble is, most of them don't even live in Accrington.

i really think the majority do live in accrington. out of 2000 there will be exiles plus others like myself but we are in a minority like most other clubs apart from glory hunting premier league half and half scarf brigade who change their clubs whoever is the most successful.

Most of the older fans left Stanley to rot in in 70s and 80s - there are different levels of glory hunting.

Think you missed my point there MH, which was that throughout Britain - nay the world, there are thousands of footie fans who have a soft spot for Stanley.
Wherever you travel, if the subject of football arises, strangers will usually respond positively once they know you're a Stanley fan.
Most wish us only success & follow our results with interest.
You only need to read the Barnsley forum to appreciate how other fans love our little club.
So yes! We have thousands of fans - even if they don't attend every game.

cannot blame em really as they would have mostly gone to watch league football at another club after stanleys resignation from the league. if the same happened again i would be off too as the choice of watching say north west counties football has no interest for me. if i was a glory hunter of any description i would never have supported hartlepool or stanley when i moved back up north in 2009.

Re: Stick yer Yorkshire Puddings (aka Barnsley match)
As an "older fan" who carried on watching Stanley in the 60's, 70's, 80's etc, I LOVE so-called "glory hunters". I just see them as prodigal sons (and daughters) who have seen the error of their ways and are now returning home, where they belong. The more "glory hunters" the better!
