Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf
Not a classic, but who cares when Canvey and Aldershot do us a favour, 3 points clear, 2 games in hand (oh yea I forgot, Scouseport managed a 0-0 draw at Morescum). Good crowd, but I thought there was more than just 3,000 - looked more like 4 from where I was (BTW how many 'Fax fans were there, bout 700 it looked like) Cannot think why they thought the referee was a w****r, coz from where I sat, he diddled Gary Roberts out of a stonewall penalty in the 1st half and didn't give Paul Mullin a chance (except once) yet he was being thrown all over the place by the shamemen. Thought Rory's diving deserved a 5.8. Overall not a classic but 1 point was definitely deserved, maybe we could have stolen it but just couldn't stick the ball in the net. No doubt those with white rose coloured specs will come on here and have a go, but what else do they expect, tea and sympathy.

Re: Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf
Still top.
Was great to see such a good crowd of 3,014. It's a pity we didn't play a little better to encourage more people to come again. Still, a great afternnon, and I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did.
Good Accy Web turnout though. Sparkologist, Lettie, Accymel, Tealeaf, Doug, as well as the usual crew. The highlight of the day though was meeting Wynonie.

Re: Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf
I think that over the last 2 games Halifax have been more than a match for us. I dont like to praise other clubs too much but they got their tactics right on both games against us and we are lucky to be 10 games unbeaten. With better delivery into the box from Halifax wide-men they could quite conceiveably have gained six points on us over Christmas. Exeter and Grays have had a crap festive period and have lost ground on us whilst Halifax are no nearer than they were a fortnight ago. So although we have n't won either of our games we have had the best Christmas of Grays, Exeter and Halifax.
Good turnout today, 700 from Yorkshire, thank-you for your money it will go towards a new Nationwide advertising Hoarding that you broke. 2300 from Accrington? keep coming please. Good noise today from Home and Away fans, but I was too close to the Ultras to tell who was loudest, Anyone from the Whinney Hill Stand to clarify?.
3 points and 2 games in hand over Exeter should give us scope to lose a little bit of form but a draw away at Exeter will go a long way to easing the worriers. A win down there would tempt me into putting a bet on for the title.

as usual a few people touting ours as the worst ground in the league, but a couple giving us best Home fans or best Away fans. Not sure about all the Morecambe nominations as best Home fans though. They must have picked up a bit since we were there.

Re: Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf

Yeah had a great afternoon, blaming ref was a rhyme with banker blind as a bat!! Nice to see Rory getting a nice rapturous reception when he got booked - Ha! What about the long awaited penalty LOL lets say i used my pre birthday wishes for that penalty Good ole heckling from the ASFC end such a laugh [well done!!!] mmmm what was the halifax's goalie called again ?!?!?? Re: Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf
They pulled it back to a 1-1 draw instead of 0-1 defeat, and for that it was worth the wait. Still Top and every inch a quality team worth watching.
The crowd was tremendous and an excellent gate to boot, long may it continue to grow. I don’t think anyone who was there for the first time would be put off by how the team played today, yes the defence was poor at a critical point, but that’s Football.
The crowd was excellent all round, but none more so than the spirited singing, drumming and banter at the Clayton End, it was friendly and very, very amusing. Well done to the Team and well done to the Supporters.
This was my first Stanley Game in 38 years. It wont be the last.

Good post spot on I feel Halifax should of had 4 points at the very least, but oh well you will know that you are no better than us and we can catch you without a doubt.
700 if i was a betting man i would say 1000 Halifax fans, just goes to show you have a lot to learn about taking an away crowd.... top of the league and you bring 4-500 to the shay poor.
Also i was one of the walkers to Accrington and i would like to say a big thank you to the fans in the seats that claped us onto the pitch shame the rest of you couldnt but hey i understand most of you could make it out of Accrington never mind walk 29 miles

I'd walk 29 miles on broken glass to get out of Halifax too.
Good atmosphere from all the fans though really.

Re: Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf
got home quicker than you got to Accy. Did you get half fare on the coach?
Although you have given us 2 quality matches, we are there to be shot at now and everybody raises their game when they play against theTOP OF THE LEAGUE. If you can keep up that level of chasing, harrying and closing down against the ****ty teams in the league then you may be joining us in League 2 next year. The big difference between Halifax and other teams in this league is that you actually chased every ball, at the Shay we probably didn't win a single 50-50 tackle and we were second to every loose ball. Raising your game gives you that impetus but we rely on playing football and even when we have been behind in the last two games and looking like losing, we have still played football and probably vreated the more clear cut chances. The big guy up front was a handful today though.

No we all got taken home in cars.
Antother moan what is going on with your floodlight's? they arnt very bright infact our touch we took for our walk was brighter!
One gate for all away fans again, cant you put an extra gate there so that when big teams play there u can get them in on time, also i am told Halifax fans were been let in an exit gate by stewards for cash so thins means they wont of been counted????

Re: Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf
Had a brilliant afternoon at the first home game I've managed to get time off work for in years. I have been to a couple of the away games but it's nice for a change to be able to just walk up the road to the game.
I do realise that new working laws mean that people with disabilities have to be employed in all manner of work. I didn't realise that this included referees with severe eyesight disorders but there you go....
All credit to both teams and the supporters for a top afternoon's entertainment....
Hehehe, I especially liked the song to the Adam's Family tune, I'll be singing it all night...

Re: Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf
Great afternoon out, although we weren't playing at our best. Still, we've extended our lead to three points, thanks to the other results. The gods seem to be with us at the moment.
Brilliant gate and even if there were 1,000 from Halifax (which I doubt), that's still 2,000 from Accy. For once I have nothing to whinge about (apart from owing another fiver on my pledge).
Finally, can I say what a pleasure it was to meet Henry Morton, Garinda and Harwood Red. The perfect finishing touch to an excellent afternoon!

Re: Still TOP of the League and 'aving a larf
Ah. Maybe it was us stopping you playing well
If a team closes down effectively (which I thought we did before we conceded) then it makes for difficult playing. But likewise, I htought we played bad, but that could well be down to pressure from yourselves?
I just got annoyed at the constant long ball tactics we played, when I much rather see a good passing movement. Perhaps Chris Wilder thought your midfield would be too much to go around and decided to go for the long ball approach?
