Can only assume we couldn't offer Deano a 2 year deal given the injuries he's been plagued with this season & if he's got that with you, good luck to him - still gutted though

Im fairly sure we've had the best of him and that he is now fast on the road to being an injury hit journeyman.
Could have been a club legend but now forever destined to be another statistic that went to Morecambe to wind down his career.

Totally agree Macca good luck to Deano but I too think we have had his best years unfortunately for him I think his injuries are starting to take their toll Coleman offered him a deal he,s chosen to go elsewhere probably thinking he will get more game time we move on and we will progress and unearth more gems and finish above Morecambe yet again.

I'd have him too, if only to stop him scoring against us in both games if he stays in League 2, or knocking us out of the cup playing for some "southern non league bankrolled outfit"!
I notice the Wombles first goal at Wembley came from a corner a minute after he came on, presumably with him creating carnage and chaos in the Argyle penalty area

Re: Summer Signings!
TBH if the Beast was to sign for us, he would probably get sent off in every game he played knowing the referees up here. Don't think he would be a good signing for us. Hoping Adam Buxton stays with us though. One of our best defenders. Sorry Deano has decided to move, but as others have said, good luck and thanks for the memories.

Andy,26 and his best years are behind him?,should be at the top of his game !!!
His injury wasn't football related (torn his pec muscle) and prior to that,he was a regular !!.
Your right that Coley will find more gems, always does, but i do believe he will become a better defender in years to come.

Re: Summer Signings!
Really sorry to see Deano go to pastures new but wish him the best for at least 44 games of next season. He's been a Stanley stalwart and deserves the respect of all fans.
That he's moved to Morecambe should not be cause for any ill-will in my mind, but then I've never really been into parochial rivalries in football. (Would it be better if League 2 was entirely southern clubs plus Stanley so there weren't any local 'rivals' to fret about?)

The quote was originally mine Ian. Deano is a top player and I'm surpised we held onto him for as long as we did. Without knowing the ins and outs I'd wager Diane had it spot on that Morecambe offered 2 years and we offered 1, probably a bit more cash as well. I do stand by what I said that I think we've had the best of him though. He's a warhorse and has played through injuries many, many times. Given the fact that he is a 100%er as well I think those injuries will start totting up.
I havent the stats in front of me (yet) but it will be interesting to compare his season on season appearances since he signed.
On another note it always saddens me when players move to 'rival clubs'. I know they dont have the same loyalty as fans do, but as a fan you always think the players first reaction would be "you can eff off if you think I'm signing fer t'cockle pickers"
And on another, another note, I'm glad you've said that you might hang around. One of the few sensible posters on Accy Web and I always enjoy your unbiased, (unless referring to Deano) opinions on a game. We nearly had to get the mods to put in a compo claim to Shrimpsvoices!

Re: Summer Signings!
We offered Mark Hughes a 1 year deal with option of another year, Surely we would have atleast offered Deano that?
Good player and one of the more experienced even at 26!

Macca, try to talk just football and stay away from the other rubbish !!.
Wont be joining any other forums thats for sure.
its weird how Acci gets in your blood, maybe its because ive been brought up watching Wigan from the northern prem days (never paid to get in !!),there are massive similarities.
Hope the new regime doesnt forget from what the clubs all about, but i cant see it as the owner is a top bloke.
Can see Coley coming back stronger then ever, and a new playing surface will only enhance his style of football.

Re: Summer Signings!
Toto is out of contact at Grimsby although they have offered him a new deal.
Coley signed him when he was at Southport so obviously likes him, Could we compete financially?

Ay, but has he stopped getting caught in possession at the back? Gave us all palpitations more times than I care to count ............

Having palpitations is what supporting Stanley's all about - I'd have Toto back in a heartbeat

The same source that broke the news on Dean Winnard has now said that we have been talking to Liam Wakefield.

Re: Summer Signings!
good luck deano and thanks for the memories. always harrier when his name was announced in the starting line up. as its been said probably the 2 year deal that had decided the move. hope those left to be signed up e.g. piero are offered 2 years and not one.
