Re: Team v. Bury

In order to get something out of this one.....

Two players of theirs need stopping I feel. Mozika in Midfield and Lowe up front. I'd advocate somebody man for man on Mozika who'll go in hard and fair on him (to me Joyce fits that mould) and I think we've got to put the best man in defence man for man on Lowe......that to me means Big Phil Edwards.

Take them two out of the equation and I think we're halfway to getting a result.

Also, forget the 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 or whatever.....We're home..If we're too cautious and bearing in mind Bury are better away than at Gigg and they'll be roared on by a large following, we might end up chasing a result rather than bossing one.

If it was me.... I'd go 3-4-1-2.......Gornell and Craney up top, Ryan behind,Proccy and Joyce in centre Midfield, wide-men /wingbacks up for debate !!!Edwards, Hessey & Long at the back. Bavs as keeper as we don't have much scope in that department.....

I still stand by what I've said at start of season.....the lack of a keeper who commands his area and marshalls his defence is holding this side back.

Re: Team v. Bury

Bateson def should be in ...WHAT HAS HAPPENED BETWEEN COLEY and HIM? SINCE HE GOT SENT OFF HE HASN'T FEATURED IN THE TEAM???
Up to then he played superbly as an attacking defender ...and his throw ins are worth a free kick!!!!
Obviously the best team would be 10 Jimmy Ryan's and a good goalkeeper:-)

I think some people let the fact that we only play with one recognised striker fool them into thinking that our formation is negative. It's not, in any way. It promotes short passing and high movement. We play with three attacking midfielders for God's sake. It's not a traditional 4-5-1 in that it is much less static; rarely do we see Gornell isolated as we did in the 'punt it up to Mullers' days.

Regarding Mozika, I hope he doesn't show up, the cheat. For that matter Futcher and Sodje can stay at home, too.

Well there will be at least one change for Saturday - according to Coley!!

ASFC News Story > 3775

It says that they haven't yet sorted a deal for Craney, so he will not be playing - enter Razor!!

Also strange to read in that story, that was the last time Jonny played!!!

Edit:- He played at Chesterfield..
