The 16-17 Season is over - highs & lows please
As the season is now over, can people share their -
best moment of the season?
lowest/worst moment of the season?
best - first game and seeing the improvements Andy Holt had made
worst - £20 walk on price is ridiculous combined with the lack of flexi ticket

Re: The 16-17 Season is over - highs & lows please
Sorry, I don't agree that the season is over - two more games yet & who knows the kind of performances and/or results we might get from them
I'd prefer to disclose my high & low moments after the final whistle if the final game if that's ok with you?

If you cant win anything (cup, league or playoffs) or lose anything (relegation), its over.
Real fans have accepted reality.

That's your opinion - in my opinion there's still pride to play for, only prima donna teams & their fans give up when there's nothing tangible left to play for - it's not all about trophies

i respect your opinion.
but if you cant win nothing, there is nothing to play for.
you dont get a open top bus parade for finishing 10th.
hopefully the manager gives some of the young kids a chance over the next 2 games.

Re: The 16-17 Season is over - highs & lows please
If anyone on this forum had told me 4 months ago that at 5.00pm on the 22nd April, I'd be disappointed that Stanley had just missed out on a play-off spot, I'd have thought them raving mad.
This season we have experienced both lows & highs, but the highs far outweigh the former.
An outstanding EFL & FA Cup run, matching us with premiership clubs.
Massive improvements to facilities for fans at the Wham.
An incredible unbeaten league run of 15 games, making us proud to be a Stanley fan & feared by opponents from the top to the bottom of the league.
As Cashy & AccyMad have already said, the season is most definitely NOT over!
And there are two reasons for this;
1. Our last home game of the season against Luton, when we all have the opportunity of saying a big thank you to the staff & players for giving us such an incredible season, and
2. An away game against Stevenage, when we get the chance to return the favour they did us last season by spoiling their party. Nothing to do with Westley! We owe them this one!

Stop belittling Stanley's achievement this season - get behind the club like a real fan.
(am I doing OK, I'm not an expert at this kind of response, DAV0?)

Re: The 16-17 Season is over - highs & lows please
Given that there's not going to be any more real highs then it's a fair enough question (especially since player of the year has already been voted for).
Bradford Away - high
Luton Away - low
Other notable mentions to Seany's dream match (V Orient?) and the low of Romy Boco warming up and never getting on.

Very surprised to see a post like this with the season far from over. Very Somerset-ish

(your right you don't get a open top bus parade for finishing 10th)
but maybe the team should get one for keeping us in league 2 for yet another season, it will be our 12th consecutive season, that is something special to celebrate

Re: The 16-17 Season is over - highs & lows please
highs for me was the fa cup win at bradford and the second half come back against crewe. only lows for me was the fixtures in november and december. lack of goals, lack of wins and lack of excitement. roll on next season. at least coley has a good part of the side to start with and not starting at zero players as at times in the past.

I suspect that you mean "you can't win anything" or "you can win nothing".

Well said Accybeme!
The top four spots in league 2 are all taken by clubs from big towns or cities.
Portsmouth, Plymouth, Luton & Doncaster.
And guess what? They also top the table when it comes to average attendances, with Pompey averaging an amazing 16,771.
This only proves one thing. In football as in most other areas of commerce - CASH IS KING!
Surely, Stanley are the exception that proves the rule.
How can a team with the lowest attendances in the whole football league manage to compete with these big clubs?
It's nothing less than miraculous that we're still playing league football on the budget available, never mind competing for promotion.
Hurrah for our 12th season in league 2 - that's what I call success!
