The Au-revoir Oxford Thread !!.
With all the excitement going on around me, as far as The Reds are concerned anyway !,and being mysteriously stimulated by my fourth shot of Absolut Vodka and Tonic I'm sure that I'll be forgiven if I quote some words from the seventeenth century poet Nahum Tate !!...
' Come, Come ye Sons of Art...( And Accymad !).
Come, Come away !.
Tune all your voices..your instruments play,
To celebrate..and celebrate this Triumphant Day'
Now I'm not suggesting for one moment that this might be altogether suitable for the magnificent Ultras to learn in time to welcome our Team onto the Pitch tomorrow afternoon but this quaintly old-fashioned exhortation does carry within it all that we need to do to enthuse Leam and the Lads to carry on with the task of annihilating Oxford United ...Raise our voices..Bang THE Drum....and celebrate our Team's achievements on what cannot fail to be a truly Triumphant Day !.
See youthere ??.

Sterling stuff, Yonmon, though it doesn't quite roll off the tongue like "Cart on, Stanley, cart on!". Haven't heard that one for a couple of years, either!

Re: The Au-revoir Oxford Thread !!.
I thought the team let themselves down today, but the Ultras were great. I know we were safe but I still expected a better performance. Jeffers and Molyneux need to take a chill pill.

Agree today was unacceptable, Was just oer 2000 spectators about 300 from oxford, so probably about 200-300 extra walk ons, we are always complaining about low crowds, Doubt very much if a display like that, will entice many back. Not good enough.

Why change the goalie at half time ? was Paul injured, I thought he may have stopped the first goal.

Re: The Au-revoir Oxford Thread !!.
Unless Rachubka was injured, subbing him at half time was a ridiculous idea. It sends out the wrong message to the team, supporters and opposition - basically 'we don't care about the result, we are treating this game as a friendly'. Not that the first half performance was fantastic, but the second half was dismal, and subbing the keeper so someone can have a half of football killed it. It's an insult to all the supporters who turned up today for what should have been a great finale to an exciting season. Even if we had lost, at least we should look like we are competing.
Of course, if he was injured, all the above is nonsense...
Apart from today, I've become hooked again on the Stanley rolercoaster. Bought my first season ticket in 14 seasons watching them, I'm optimistic about the future if we can keep hold of a few players!

Re: The Au-revoir Oxford Thread !!.
Oh dear! Leam and Joyce set the tone for the afternoon by bringing their kiddies onto the pitch BEFORE kick off. I didn't matter for me as I have had enough of intense, nerve racking games for one season, thank you very much, but I can understand those who felt a bit let down today. Not that it mattered, but I thought Winnard, Murphy, Liddle and Amond were all abysmal today, and It wouldn't worry me one bit if they were not in Leam's plans for next season. We won't move forwards next season unless we can improve the quality in their positions. I don't want to end on a sour note, though, and I was hypocritically singing for Peter Murphy at the finish along with the Ultras, who got a well deserved clap from the Oxford keeper at the final whistle.

Re: The Au-revoir Oxford Thread !!.
I agree with Tom D. If Rachubka wasn't injured, then replacing him with someone who clearly didn't look good enough was an insult to the fans. Made me wonder if I'd done the right thing renewing my season ticket!

Re: The Au-revoir Oxford Thread !!.
Why Dawber and not Bav's?
I can understand why Leam did it if it was to give the lad more experience, when else can he blood the lad and not risk losing meaningful points?
I also understand the argument it sent out the wrong message.
What was Murphys foul for the penalty like?

No argument from me Stonewall penalty in my book, Murphy was just very clumsy. Twas opposite end of ground, but i'd said penalty before the ref pointed.
