The Barbers Pole

Just got and read "the Pole is torn again" issue of the Barbers Pole ASFC Fanzine.. what a great read.. better print quality than our program of a couple of seasons ago and better layout than our program now*... hats off to all involved (the editor being a regular on here) only thing is.. theres never a date on but I am guessing april/may 1996?

I love the bit about the appointment of Eric Whalley being a strange one.... but making all the right noises

Interesting to read a letter from a couple of Morecambe fans who went to stand with Accy fans at lancaster...a subject currently running on the morcambe board re us supporting them v hereford and the playoffs..

Anyways..... WE NEED A FANZINE! with the latest one being I think 2 seasosn ago by Plumb and Bubs... Or has the internet killed them off.. I would love to see a Stanley one...

* meant as a compliment to TBP not a dig at our excellent program

Re: The Barbers Pole

I'm sure I recall purchasing some sort of fan-zine at the 4-2 win over Burscough in the Unibond promotion season unless Im mistaken... Im pretty sure I did though and that it was a good read.

Re: The Barbers Pole

I agree with Kipax. We really should have a fanzine and I'd be more than happy to contribute regularly to one.
I too thought that the internet would kill off fanzines, but the high number of clubs that have paper fanzines shows that it is still an attractive project.

By the way Kipax, I bet you had to pay a small fortune for that issue. Was the cut off corner still stuck on the inside?

Always enjoyed reading...and writing for...the Barber's Pole. My "Peel Park Revisited" article on t'fishy site is an expanded version of a piece that first appeared in TBP. I would be more than happy to contribute to a new fanzine.

Oh dear, I'll just have to hope that I'm as fortunate as Dan Brown in his "Da Vinci Code" case!
