Re: The belated Gillingham match thread
No chance we will get Ings, who needs him anyway with super Michael Smith

Well said Smudgie, it makes a refreshing change to have some height up front.

Re: The belated Gillingham match thread
Brilliant result was getting really nervous in the second half and couldn't wait for that final whistle in the playoffs and there to stay.

Re: The belated Gillingham match thread
Most positive thing for me is that he is 100% match fit and Fresh, having not played much football this season.
Not putting too much pressure on the lad, but he really could be that catalyst we need.
Looking forward to Hessey coming back as well as having Lindfield in the mix.

Michael Smith (loan) & Liam Willis (free agent) both joined at the same time and are both here until the end of the season.

Re: The belated Gillingham match thread
Now the dust has settled, you only realise what a great performance it was.We had lost our first choice Centre backs, captain and all the coaching staff,
That, added to a few players who were carrying injuries, just sums up what accrington Stanley are all about.
Don't underestimate how knowledgeable leam and phil are on the coaching side, and IMHO are the people to stabilise and take the club forward,
Regarding bag,he has played a big part in only 7 defeats in 26 games,so hopefully,it's another similar 26 games,I am sure he knows he was at fault, but he's been superb lately

Completely agree. Would not expect Ian to lose his place. His commanding of his area was very good for the most part yesterday. If he didn't have his occasional (and they are getting much more occasional) rushes of blood to the head, he wouldn't be playing at this level. He's been excellent this season.

Re: The belated Gillingham match thread
Having seen both goalkeepers this season with Murdoch playing the first 15 games or so and Bavs the rest i i dont see much in it between them although i have never saw murdoch make a mistake. He must be thinking what he has to do but i do completely agree with shaker bavs shouldnt be dropped. Does anyone know how long smith is on loan for? I thought him and amond were superb and luke joyce must be playing himself into a bigger move.

Murdoch was dropped after the FA Cup defeat at Notts County, when a couple of the goals were of the "goalkeeper could have done better" variety. Not howlers of yesterday's proportions but "disappointing". I thought at the time that he was hard done by to lose his place.
Up till yesterday Bavs has taken his chance and hardly put a foot wrong. In several games he's made crucial saves which changed the course of the match (Burton & Aldershot spring to mind).
Yesterday's gaffe was truly awful but I think Bavs is still well in credit. But I thought the same about Murdoch when he was axed and I agree there really is nothing to choose between the pair.

Re: The belated Gillingham match thread
Murdoch will play against Wigan in the Lancs Cup, gives Leam another chance to take a look at him.
Bav's will ALWAYS have rushes to head, and make no mistake it could have cost us big time yesterday.
