How much would it cost the club to buy these experienced players who are worth £2k a week?
Or are they available on a free transfer?

With on costs it would cost £850k a year just to pay them, pretty deluded isn't it?

Re: The Fleetwood game Thread

Id sooner get relegated with the overdraft intact than get relegated with it blown. 2k a week then tear a hamstring and be out for 3 months my arse.

Although the truth and reality is somewhere between both those extremes; you can both survive and pick up good players for lesser wages.

I agree with the contribution regarding variety - it’s arguably Coleman’s biggest weakness and arguably his strength - he has his way of playing and his preferred 11 to play it and sticks with them; when we win it’s genius and when we lose it’s a failure to mix it up.
We do seem to struggle at the start of each season and then put in a good run of results before Christmas; is this simply the squad adapting to Coleys tactics and formation?

There is another argument this season, with Bolton and Bury effectively already relegated we only need to avoid 2 relegation slots.
Do you play the long game and scrape through this season and save funds to have a proper go next season when the risk of relegation will be greater?
Let’s not forget, survival is success in league 1 for Stanley although Coleman would never settle for mere survival; but if we have a 2 year plan to develop some players this season and keep some funds back to have a better quality and deeper squad next season, it could be a master stroke with the relegation risk considerably diminished.

Absolute nonsense !!
I’m talking out of contract players or those available free.
Loads of them this pre season but want a decent living.
Example Jon Taylor Rotherham to Doncaster.
Half a mill player two years ago.
What do you think the on cost is for the 12 we’ve signed ?

So how much do you think we are paying Kee and Zanzala ?

Zanzala ?
Pretty petty only quoting half the question.

Nothing !!!
LOADS have moved this pre season.
Why do you think Clark and Johnson are still with us ?
Because - rightly so - the club wants a fee.
Why pay hundreds of thousands when you can get a player of similar standard for nothing ?
Do the maths.

You should apply for Coleman’s job if he’s obviously clueless 🤷*♂️

So English football is awash with LOADS of proven quality players, all looking for a new home & available for nothing?
Except perhaps a £2000 per week salary?
John Coleman has oft said that if Mr Holt gave him £5m pounds, he wouldn't spend it on players, because those players would be coming only for the money.
They would simply be mercenaries who had no loyalty to ASFC.
We can't afford to pay anyone £100,000+ a year, let alone 6 of them.
That's why we sign hungry young players who are looking for a second chance to ignite their careers.
Players who are glad to get that chance & proud to wear our shirt.
That policy has got us where we are today, competing on the same terms against clubs with 10 x our budget.
It will take time, but I predict that this new crop of young bloods will come good & Mr Coleman's judgement will be vindicated.
Bishop will score more goals. Charles will burst the net with more rocket shots.
Let's give these young lads a chance & more important - our support.
If we go down, no one in the game will shed a tear for Accrington Stanley. You know what? Nor will I!
For whether we're in L1 or the Conference North - I'll always be a Stanley fan.
That's about the maths.

Re: The Fleetwood game Thread

Nobody can argue with Coley or the Stanley Way ... its served us well so far and won at least 2 promotions that we shouldnt have been entitled to

I called it a cheap shot because YOU chose to mention Kee in your first post.
The fact you try to deflect things by excluding his name and concentrate solely on Zanzala just proves the point.
I’m no relation or agent to either of these players but I suggest that Billy Kee has done more than enough for Stanley to earn respect from keyboard warriors on here.

[QUOTE=Exile on Spencer St;

Ah, possession! The most meaningless statistic of many meaningless statistics in today’s football world.

totally agree. just something else pointless for the pundits to prattle on about. at the end of the day what matters is shots on target. a couple of years ago burnley were masters of winning games with far less of the ball than the opposition. if you are going to have possession statistics lets have em for the time spent in the opposition half where the game is actually won and not include the ten pass crossfield move on the enge of your own penalty area.

Re: The Fleetwood game Thread

The introduction of VAR this season has caused quite a stir and does seem to disrupt the flow of matches.......
However, the sending off incident on Saturday is a clear example of how video evidence should be used after matches to review incidents, and for action to be taken, that the officials may have missed.
Sean reacted to Evans efforts to wind him up ironically after a free kick had already been awarded to Stanley.
Evans did not need to get involved!
A retrospective viewing of this incident like they do in rugby would have led to Evans also being cited for violent conduct and therefore getting the same three match ban that McConville received.
IMHO Evans action was horrible in the way he grabbed McConville's lips and twisted them! Sean reacted and deserved his red card but Evans should have got red carded too!
