Re: The King is gone = new management, who?
found the whole episode strange.
from a financial point of view,it would make sense to run with leam,ie, you have got five people off the wage bill, and maybe pay liam a little extra.
Dont know Cook, but the facts are he got sacked by southport, and hasnt been part of the league scene for five years, indeed, the sligo fans are on the fence about him.
I know hes a mate of Coleys,so maybe hes put a word in on his behalf, I dont know.
Like all managers,he probably wanted all his backroom staff with him,so your spending goes up,then he probably wants to bring in his players, again costs go up.
It just doesnt make sense, when the team are on the play-off fringes again.
IMHO, run with Leam and co should be the way forward and stay within our budget.
The Coley shadow will be over the club for a while yet (rightly so because he was a legend)
PS --- If you think Leam cant deal with the player/manager change, you are mistaken !!!,apparently they are training harder than under Coley

Re: The King is gone = new management, who?
I can't be arsed to look up what Cook has acheived in management but he does seem to have built a solid reputation. I think his main draw is that he is an ex-player who was here around the glory times of the Conference and knows what the club is about. Maybe we (the fans) are underselling ourselves a bit by thinking the new guy would have to understand the club (our tinpottedness) and therefore a Cook character would fit the genre perfectly. The other selling point for Cook is that is popular around the six fingered parts and may attract some Burnley types along.
But we are skint and can't afford anyone who insists on bringing along a whole team of their own, both players and backroom staff. And there really is no need at the moment. Although it would be nice to tickle the play-offs for a third successive season we are practically safe from relegation as it stands so Leam should be given the time and respect to have a crack this time around and review the situation in May. It would be a shame for Leam to go from having a good shout at the job to someone else coming in and probably dropping him from the squad entirely in a few weeks time.
18 games for Leam to earn himself a new career please.

I have come to the same conclusion as Football19 Macca and Peter Marsden.

Re: The King is gone = new management, who?
Also came across excellently in the interview I just heard on Radio Lancs referring to the fans and us wanting to be in the know and the whole match day experience that for me sounds like very much nail on the head.
