I also thought Lindfield did ok, was just let down by poor finishing.

Best game this season. Team carried on from where they left off at Fleetwood. Gilllingham are a good side, pressed high up pitch and the defence really had to be on their toes and move the ball quickly. Agreed that the ball went long a few times but thought that all defenders made good decisions and we were unlucky to concede when we did. We turned it on it's head 2nd half and played some great attacking football a joy to watch. Everyone played well and their work rate was fantastic. Leam really has got them working for him. As for Lindfield thought he played really well. Bet he's kicking himself for missed chances but good to see him back higher up the pitch.

I must admit I thought Linney played really well, and a lot of his work goes un-noticed.He worked hard to get into scoring positions,it just wasn't going to be his day,but credit must go to his desire to get into those positions, that alone is hard enough.

Agree with many comments made already...A super game of football. Any neutrals watching must have gone home impressed with the overall standard of play from both sides. Luck sometimes plays a part in matches and on a different day if Craig Linfield had got a bit of luck he could have been going home with the match ball. I thought the whole team played well, including Craig, against a superbly organised and very slick Gills side. I think that they could be top of Div 1 if they were up there this season! Beattie has made a big difference to the side already as we now have a centre forward who can win headers, keep play up in the opposition half for longer, and smash penalties in superbly! Other players such as Boco, Amond and Linfield are already benefiting from getting more opportunities to play higher up the field. Things are looking good under Liam, well done the boys! Thought the singing fans were an absolute credit on Saturday, we were trying so hard to suck the ball into the Gills net in the last 20 minutes! I went home hoarse and knackered! (Knackered horse? What am I saying?) Come on people of Accrington, get down to the Crown and see some great football! Come on you Reds!

Re: The Let's Start a Gillingham Thread Thread

Agree with the previous posts about what a great game it was, really good advert for league 2 football.

My thoughts on the game for what they're worth:

- thought Bav could have come and punched the cross and Liddle shouldn't have let the lad turn for the goal.
- Back 4 did well against decent attacking team (unfortunately Toto always has a mistake in him!)
- Joyce/Miller looked good just wish they'd play forward more.
- Linny did ok up until the final 3rd, crossing & finishing was poor.
- Sorry dont see Molyneux as part of our best 11, too incosistent, passing/crossing/set pieces poor today.
- Beattie anonymous until his flick-on for the goal the had a decent 15 mins, great pen.
- Bocco and Podge when he came on both very lively (it it just me or does anyone else think Podge looks a much better player when he comes off the bench?)
- Would have like to have seen Hatfield or Gray given last 15 to try and sneak one but on the whole enjoyable day and got to be viewed as a good point against the league leaders.
