Question The run in..........

2/3rds of the way through the season and we are now - almost - at the run in.....

15 games - Cup Finals - to go......

What are the thoughts of how it will pan out and where we finish???

Almost completed my game by game predictions and will post up shortly

Re: The run in..........

I’m not so sure.
Would like to see a confident display at home against the bottom side to convince me, instead of the defensive - minded battling goalless draws of late.

At the very least I would like a second forward on the pitch towards the end if we are still goalless.

Re: The run in..........

For the last 15 games my thoughts are 20 points which will give us 51 points, as we averaged 1 point a game for the first 31 games we have to pick it up. Will 51 points keep us up? We should also improve our goal difference as that could be a factor. Fingers crossed we start it off tomorrow with 3 points.

Question Re: The run in..........

Using what I have seen with my own eyes, plus some of what I have seen on the television, my predictions below.

It was after the fact only, that I realised we had a point a game and that my predictions bore the same results......

I hope I am wrong.

Is 46 points enough????

I hope we get Notts., Lowe, Ryan and Doug back A.S.A.P. and Mitch has a blinding last 15 games

TODAY IS MASSIVE

FGR - home - 3
Ipswich - away - 0
Charlton - away - 1
Pompey - home - 1
MKD - home - 3
Plymouth - home - 1
Exeter - away - 0
=9
Vale - home - 1
Shef. Wed - away - 0
F/wood - home - 3
Posh - home - 1
Pompey - away - 0
Bolton - away - 0
C/bridge - home - 1
=6(9+6=15)
Oxford - away - 0

Re: The run in..........

Agree that today is massive. Anything less than three points will make it very difficult to reach a point a game for the season.

Last year is the only season when a club has survived on less than 46. That was in part due to the high number of draws around the division. In 2011/12 the fifth from bottom club had 50, but theoretically you could have survived that year on 44. Otherwise not. Usually you will need 48-49, sometimes a few more.

I don’t think 46 will do it this year, but the 51 Bryan believes in probably will (just).

So far, so good - maybe???

Had a great chat with Loweiy today - or, Mr. Accrington Stanley - and he had us to lose today.... understood fully his 'voodoo gods' reasoning, but for once they got it wrong

He did though, have us down for 2 away wins this week...... hope he is correct

Great result, considering the opposition and the man in charge - or not!!!!

Poor game, from 2 poor teams, but I will take another 14 of those

Re: The run in..........

Mo Sangare has been called up for international duty with Liberia in the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier matches against South Africa…..
South Africa v Liberia - Friday 24th March (4pm).
Liberia v South Africa - Tuesday 28th March (5pm).

Congratulations to Mo. Well done!

However, he will be another player made unavailable for selection for the Stanley. He will probably be away when we play Plymouth at home on Tuesday 21st March and Exeter away on Saturday 25th March.

Good luck to Mo but let’s hope he returns uninjured!
Our squad is depleted enough as it is now!

we need some luck, and some of our injured players returning, I think the must win home games are MKdons & cambridge best chances of the away fixtures are oxford & charlton, but being honest the bottom line is were in trouble

I haven't looked at other teams run in fixtures but we are probably one of 7 or 8 teams in the mix for relegation. Of those 8 teams, none of them are in top form and in a similar position to us. We are mid-way in that relegation fight with the possible advantage of an extra game over some and a couple of games over others. No mid-table mediocrity for Stanley this season, and definitely something to play for. I reckon we've no chance against any team in the top 10 places but every chance of something from those 11th down.........ALL TO PLAY FOR IN MY BOOK!.......

if you discount the top 10 teams ie pompy (home & away ) plym owls posh trott
that only leaves charlton away won two of last 7 ---
M/Kdons home won 1 of the last 7 games ---
port vale H won 3 of the last 7 ---
fleetwood H won 3 of the last 7 ---
cambridge H won 1 of the last 7 ---
oxford away won 0 of the last 7
OK we sit on 34 points where are our points coming from
chalton away 1 --M/Kdons home 3 --port/vale home 1 --fleetwood home 1 --cambridge home 3
thats 8 points only puts us on 42 even 3 points away to oxford only gives us 45 points hope the results are different to my expectations but I still think we are in trouble

I don't doubt your logic, apart from 50 points or more being needed to stay-up this year. Also I'm a bit of an optimist as far as Stanley are concerned. I think a team might well be able to stay up with 43 points. Of course we just don't know exactly how results for any of the bottom teams will pan out. This year in League 1 there is more of a marked difference between the Top 8, Middle 8 and bottom 8 teams in terms of squad and performance which leads me to believe that 43 may just be enough. Whether of course we can even get to that number is unknown. Probably live in hope until there are just 5 games to go and then if we are still 20th or 21st cross everything!!! Let's hope for another crack at staying in League 1 next year......Best wishes CG
