Re: There's No 'r' In Caling

Standard practice is for printers to send proofs to the customer to be checked for copy and quality of artwork. If this is a situation where the printer has undertaken to proofread the artwork, then the club should be having a stern word with them!

Unfortunately, I have yet to read a programme from this season.... despite ordering the Darlington one online......
I'll have to take your word for it that it has improved from last season.... as for 'proof reading', give me a chance!!

I don't think I complained Florence, I just made a statement

Did anyone else notice our usual deliberate mistake in the programme for last night's game ? On the front cover was 'CALING CUP ROUND ONE'
If I had followed up on my statement by being critical of the mistake then that would have been complaining, so please do not accuse me of complaining when I haven't.

I see that you have just joined Florence and that was your first posting. I would have thought that someone's first posting would have been something constructive not having a dig at another member <!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Re: There's No 'r' In Caling

Theres nothing wrong with people pointing out mistakes.. It helps makes things better. It doesn't mean he is complaining.. The program is littered with mistakes and I pointed a few out myself... I balanced it with talk of it being the best program we ever had and I truly mean that.. Karen has worked wonders.... But the team is doing the best they ever have arn't they? But they don't stop , They go for even better

All this not allowed to say anything because the team are doing well is wearing a bit thin. If JEFF , Me or anyone else doesn't point these things out then the club will never know and they wont be put right. Consider it a free proofing service

All well and good but surely the point of proofing is to highlight mistakes BEFORE something is printed.

Stanley have made huge strides forward in recent years and it's inevitable that mistakes will be made, as the admin side of the club strives to keep up with the rapid progress of the playing side. We've said this so often that it's become a cliche now, but the club is on a massive learning curve.

However, as Mr K has said, there are many people out there with particular skills who could actually help to make an already excellent programme better, yet the club ignores us. Why?

not a dig at anybody in particular but there are many people with particular skills or contacts that could aid with fan initiatives. I have asked frequently on this site for help with things and not had much response. Perhaps the club assumes help would not be forthcoming.

Ok, Macca, well, if you want the fanzine (or anything else) proofchecking, just ask...

it wasent that if you read my post i said we like the mistakes, they are part of the feel of a fanzine,

But for the program which is meant to be professional your skill would probably be wanted, as well as that for any of the other stuff the ultras will produce which we want to get right
