Today!

Nearly 6 o'clock and still no mention of today's game. I couldn't make it today but was walking the dog over the coppice at half four and could hear the drum and bits of chants.

Re: Today!

What happened today. Not been an Accrington fan long but wouldn't have thought that was a good result. Didn't make the game but how did toddy play?

Re: Today!

I made it, it wasn’t the best of games and the lads can and could have done better. The referee apart from being a Tommy tanker was also blind, deaf and stupid.

Todd did well, needs to get a decent hair cut, but a committed effort all the same. He’ll do alright for us. A good goal from David Brown and there should have been more. Some good play, but we should have done earlier. Mangan got gobby with the ref, when he should have walked away. That Referee was a disgrace and should be pulled aside and slapped.

1-1 and a trip to Worksop on Tuesday night, better than losing I suppose, but the lads could have and should have won.

Re: Today!

We were poor today and I'm afraid to say we missed Barry's link -up play and drive in the midle of the park. Boco is wasted in midfield and looked much more threatening when Tretton came on for Mangan and Rommy was pushed further upfield where his quick, close control makes him very dangerous.
Andy Todd was a threat and gave 100% - a very promising debut, but Gary Roberts annoyed me by not once getting to the by-line and putting in any crosses. Andy Mangan showed why he is better used as a "supersub" than playing the full 90, and David Brown did well for his goal. He should have made it 2-0 shortly after but missed the ball and fell over!
How he then didn't get a penalty when he was pushed over in the box I'll never know - I've never seen a more blatant penalty not given.
Got to give credit though to Worksop who have some good players, and they will fancy their chances in the replay if we're not up for it.

Re: Today!

Yes it should have been a penalty but then again we shouldnt have needed it.

We wouldn't have been any better off with Barry while players where playing like that.

Boco and Craney too far back and especialy boco. absoloutly wasted

Mangan gets better every game .... But he also gets gobbier and could easily have been sent off for arguing wiht the ref today...

Todd. Yes impressed and looks like will do well... started on right then played on left then on right again in second half.

Worksop fans came for a cup final day out and got it.. they where noisy and kept going all day.

How many games now are we saying we are rubbish but getting results? Well it happened again today.. we got a lot more than we deserved. Too many times playing rubbish and being happy wiht the points... Now its a worry

Most of the second half was spent in the Accy half with Worksop on constant attack . We will probably go to Worksop and win comfortably..

Re: Today!

Well what can I say that hasn't already been said. The referee wasn't fit or qualified to referee a Northern League game between Ashington and Morpeth Town, The assistants weren't fit or qualified to assist at a Zingari league game. The one on the Whinney Hill touchline did not know the offside rule, that was abundantly clear. We scored 4 times and 4 times they were disallowed, when maybe one or two should have been. IMHO I thought Andy Todd had a very good debut and should do well when he has settled. I also thought some of the team were showboating against a team who are only 1 league below us. Maybe this is Worcester all over again, and look what happened after that replay, a run of 17 without defeat in all competitions. And how the referee managed to book Brown for a stonewall penalty, I will never know, surely as well, shouldn't Welchy have walked for the penalty given against us? (last defender etc etc). No I will not worry about what could have been, but maybe this will calm down all those who are saying we are in league 2 - NOT YET were not!

Re: Today!

The referee was shocking but not nearly as shockng as our performance tbh. We need to play better than we did today, no matter who the opposition are. Now is not a time to get complacent, be it in the league or the trophy

Re: Today!

Andy Mangan needs to GROW UP!! He's a gobby little git and is getting worse by the game. He gives lip on the bench when he's sat down too!!! Needs to be careful or may well feel the wrath of Coley!!! His attitude and mouth could have cost us today, thankfully the barely competant ref was missing his balls!!! I can't believe that mango is top of our cards list in the NLP!

Are you seriously saying that 1 dynamic player cannot make a difference and influence a game? Just look at the way Parker dominated for Newcastle in midfield yesterday and laid the platform for their post-Souness revival.
There was nobody springing Roberts into space wide on the left yesterday and Mully suffered as a result. Jagielka and Proccy can do the midfield grafting role but are obviously not available for the time being. Who else have we got to take the midfield by the scruff of the neck? Craney can't do it on his own.
