Talking Re: Todays Match

At my nephews wedding today. The grooms father was keeping us updated with local results. 1:0 at half time I could believe, but 5:0, I had to wait for confirmation on the radio before realising it was`nt a wind up. Well done the lads for coming back after last weeks strangly sterile display.

Re: Todays Match

team : JK, Cav, Smith, Gerrard, Howson, Jag, McE, Craney, Rory, Mullers, Ged - subs : Alcock, James, Banim, Howarth (on for Cav), Cook ( on to save Rory being lynched).

Oh yeah, we have a defence - superb perfomance & total control. Particularly impressed with Smith and Gerrard considering 1st game. Eh, but what about the Rory incident. Out of respect to my aging knees I watch from the seats these days and so was sideways on when Rory was put through and went sprawing in the area. Daggers player obscured my view as to whether it were a dive or penalty. Rory got up and appealed - ref weren't having any so Rory chucks himself down and rolls about, Didn't see anyone within arms reach and thought the lad was having a temper tantrum. Daggers fans start screaming 'cheat' and their goalie walks over and gestures to Rory to get up, offering some advice at the same time. Rory jumps up (again) and although back to me his body language suggests he had some words of advice for their keeper. Silly bloke then appears to push Rory by the face and Rory obliges with another dying swan collapse. Red card and (although 'off the ball') penalty - 3-0 and Coley diplomatically subs Rory. Be interested to see what lads / Lasses behind the goal thought of the incident. Don't want to pour cold water on a great display - but we can be straight with one another on here can't we - if there was nothing more to what I saw then it leaves a sour taste. Having said that we were well in control and didn't need the pen or sending off to win hansome. Suspect we lost some friends at Dagenham over the incident though.

Smile Re: Todays Match

Fantastic performance from all the lads! Congratulations to them and, of course, the management team. Wonderful to see Stanley so high in the league vertigo might become a problem. I hope all those who doubted that Smithy could play at Conference level (and you know who you are) will now honestly hold their hands up and admit they just might have got that wrong. The lad's a gem! Barrow1, Redditch 6 - don't you almost feel sorry for the `Mighty Ones`.....Well, maybe not!

Of course we know who we are.. You make it sound like we are lepers are something.. The day it is wrong to hold an opinion on this forum is the day I stop posting.. So lets not have a pop at people for having an opinion that differs with yours eh.

Smithy had a great game and looked ten times the player he did last season.. He did what I hoped he would.. what we all hoped he would when I said I hope he has a great game for us. It looks like the Barrow stint has done him the world of good and he looked more confident and sure of himself.. He also got a great reception from the crowd which he aknowledgd but looked a little embarresed in the clubhouse after the game when a chorus of we hate barrow went up

Re: Todays Match

Great result and although we were lucky with some of the goals it sounds and looks like we fully deserved the 5 goal winning margin. Looking forward to plenty of games that I can attend in the next 4 weeks - Leigh, Northwich, Gravesend, Tamworth and Hereford.

I was very impressed with the interview with their manager, John Still. He was very magmanimous in defeat when it would have been easy to complain about 2 penalties and a sending-off. Is it the same John Still that took Coventry to FA Cup victory in 1987 or am I barking up the wrong tree?

How did Gerrard play?
