Re: Today's Programme
I dont think the support has split though has it?
we all have different ideas and opinions but I haven't noticed anybody falling out yet, and these are our darkest days! blitz spirit and all that!
I get the point on the SOS and I do agree, but by the same token many were asking questions right from the off. Those that put into buckets to start with were only ever going to give once, maybe twice. The biggest harm to the appeal came from the club not actually pushing anything or offering their own ideas up earlier, or talking/responding to the public. The wristbands never made it onto the website despite me emailing it in under the 'news' banner (not that I should have needed to).
Anyway, like I said, its time to start looking at the future again now that we all know we are safe.

Re: Today's Programme
I don't know Mr. O'Neill, but I do know Rob Heys.
Rob is one of the good guys, and his considerable talents should not be underestimated.
Can anyone on this forum give any example of when Rob might have acted otherwise than in the best interests of Accrington Stanley Football Club?
No, I thought not.
Rob is a truly decent man and is held in high regard by those who know him or have dealt with him (Paul Fletcher of BBC Sport considers him to be exceptional).
He is also someone who helped to rein in Eric's abrasive management style during Stanley's Annus Mirabilis and made the Club so popular.
When I first met Rob Heys I warmed to him immediately, but while I considered him to be knowledgeable about football I was concerned that he was naive in Google Page Ranking, management and accountancy.
How things have changed!
Rob is the proverbial swan, seen by everyone as gliding around as-calm-as-you-like while beneath the water his feet are moving at a prodigious rate.
Robert Heys is by far the best man to be in charge of Accrington Stanley's future.
And I suspect that all the protagonists and pretenders to the Stanley Throne know it.

They've changed??? So why are things in the mess they are now then? All 3 areas that concerned you originally are the same ones that are in a mess right now!!!

the evidence would certainly point to us being safe.
Dave O'Neil is not interested in our (ASSF) money
The board see no reason to deal with us.
There is no sign of panic at the top
Events are planned for November rather than October
Katie, Willie Miller and Shurm have all spoke directly to The Don and have been somewhat placated.
Do I need to carry on running around trying to fundraise? probably yes, as it means that either the directors will have to put in less money or we will have to borrow less money. I'm not happy about it for what has gone on and what will go on, but we live to fight another day and that is what is important.
still worried for the future though.

TM, have you ever worked for Eric Whalley?
I have.
Rob has only recently emerged from years of Eric's version of management, and the virtual bruises will still be healing.
Rob could have left, but he stayed to try to put things right for the Club and the Supporters - and I think that he is essential to the future of Accrington football.
I respect your opinion but I disagree with it.

Re: Today's Programme
I would certainly agree with you there, Mr Morton. I wouldn't know where to start in assessing his management or accountancy skills, as I'm just a simple soul who stands on the Clayton End and I know nothing of such things. However, you're spot on when you say he's a "truly decent man". This was brought home to me a few years ago when I paid to have a memorial plaque for my old fella fixed to one of the seats in the Main Stand. A year or so down the line I went to look for it and discovered that it had mysteriously vanished. I emailed Rob more in hope than expectation - he immediately embarked on a search on the stadium, located it somewhere or other, had it refixed, took a photo and emailed it to me, all in the space of two days. Obviously it shouldn't have been removed in the first place, but he took the trouble to sort it personally - in other words, he went the extra mile. A diamond geezer!

He just told me he'd put all the money raised on the lotto and come up a winner I'm just worried because he still hasn't announced it to everyone.

I agree too....
he has grown with the club, from his time as a terrace legend, to his days looking after accystan.co.uk to his admin duties & then chief exec....
He would be on the terrace with us if he wasn't employed. I will be sad if he isn't with Stanley 2010

Well if that is all you have it points to either,
1) The club have an arrangement to pay off only part of the tax bill (unlikely) or,
2) They are going to take us into administration.
OR DO YOU KNOW WHERE THE MISSING K200+ IS COMING FROM - SOORY TO SHOUT.

Re: Today's Programme
sounds like a plan to me Shurm.
