Stick to the wage structure and there will be a Stanley team for years to come. Break it and the club will be dead inside 5 years. Crowds of 2000 don't allow for all players demands.
Todd was good for us, as he gave 100% every game. It's a shame he's left as I liked him alot. He wasn't the best player in the world, but his effort was second to none.
However, if the club has to let him leave to keep on budget, then I say goodbye Toddy. You've been great, but it's time to go!!!!
|
Ditto, no matter how much toddy was a great player for us and how much i am gutted that hes left, the club have to look after the financial side, we cant just be givin toddy or any other player for this matter money we might not have.
I think alot of people have just come on here and seen toddys left and been disspointed and just slagged Eric off, but i belive Toddy can be replaced just like Rory, Evil and Gary have been replaced.
And how can people say its all about money??
Rotherham...bigger club...better facilites...bigger fan base to attract players, closer to toddys home...
But... the town of Accrington as a whole need to support the club so they can offer decent money to player, you not think?
GOOD LOOK TODDY!!!

Re: Todd gone to Rotherham
Ok, so we are never going to be able to build a successful, settled team in the middle or long term. I wonder if there are any statistics available which show player turnover per club? Think we would come top of the league?
Our problems are just like Rovers, albeit on a completely different scale! Their messageboard is full of fans moaning about clubs trying to poach their best players, but we and they just have to keep unearthing the Derbyshire's and McGivern's of this world.

Shame on you. These are the men who, in their different ways brought Stanley from the dark depths of Unibond One to their present position and they certainly don't deserve the sort of comments you're dishing out.
As Macca has said, Toddy left for other reasons apart from money. However, supposing he had left for money? Could you please explain how we can pay higher wages to players when we get, in real terms, the lowest gates in the football league?

its simple really, prices are to expensive. Lower the prices more fans? more turnover. However people would be prepared to pay for a better service, realistically and as everyone knows our ground is a disgrace compared to the majority of the rest of the league.
We have to be realistic ive been goin on the stanley for 12 years and i couldent afford to go to every game with a full family.
Course toddy left for money, the guy slogs his guts out all season and deservadly gets player of the year. He gets offered better money over a longer period at a different club.
What would you do? Id be straight to rotheram for one.
Yes the issue of distance is there but you honestly think we offered him enough to stay, not a chance.

Re: Todd gone to Rotherham
Toddy is impressed with Rotherham's pitch. With global warming gathering pace ours is going to be like a beach in a couple of years. Seriously, it was horrible watching the ball pinging about towards the end of the season.

Funny, I could've sworn Macca said exactly the opposite. Still, you know better, don't you?
As for prices, I would say our prices compare quite favourably with the majority of division two clubs. I've certainly paid the same or in many cases more at many of the away grounds I've been to this season.
And the ground? Well, maybe you'd like us to run up a big overdraft, spending money we haven't got on lots of expensive improvements?
Think I'd prefer to stick with Eric and Coley and their "clangers"!
