tomorrows squad
.... so you are the manager tomorrow night, who do pick?
are you gonna go for what is pretty much your first choice side with a view to giving Burnley a real go on saturday? or do you take the opportunity to have a look at the trialists first?
Personally, I 'd go for what I think is my first 11 in every pre-season game and IF a trialist is good enough to have a look at then I'd slip him into a first choice side. It's no good putting two strikers on the field if you are still going to play Mullin in every game, give em half each alongside the big man. I'd like to see a settled side by the time Wycombe comes along and they will have played at least half a dozen games as a side, maybe then we can hit the ground running when the league campaign starts.
1. Arthur
2. Cavanagh 4. Williams 5. Roberts 3. Richardson
7. Miles 6. Carden 8. Boco 11. Whalley
9. Dsane 10. Mullin

Sorry but Phil Edwards any day at right-back. Cav's just not good enough, captain or not.

Where's Mr Harris? More to the point, where is Jay Harris in the list of sponsorship of player's shirts for the season? Is there something we don't know going on?
Jay was instrumental in our good run at the end of last season and deserves to feature IMHO.

Re: tomorrows squad
I think it'll be mainly trialists tomorrow night, but obviously I could be wrong.
That midfield looks a bit suspect Macca. Who's going to win the ball?

Re: tomorrows squad
Carden is a tough tackling ball winner that likes to play a bit as well

Re: tomorrows squad
I'd start the trialists myself, most of them only come for a week or two so it's an ideal chance to see them in a game...I'd start with our strongest XI on Saturday which at the moment I think is the same as Macca's but as said earlier Phil for Cav. That midfield looks well, Carden is a ball winner, a strong tackler and doesn't go forward much and him and Boco should compliment each other with a defensive and attacking midfield....But we'll see

Re: tomorrows squad
Why has nobody mentioned Mr Branch also Leighton needs his chance and IMHO along side Mullers there is no one better than David Brown.
Look at last season when given his chance a bullet against Hereford, forget the red card that wasn't and after that a cool finish against MK Dons.
People talk on here always needed a proven quality striker but Browny gets overlooked.
But relating to tomorrow trialists then against Burnley,
Arthur
Phil, Rocky, Roberts, Leam
John Miles, Proc, Branch, Whalley
Rosco, Mullers
subs: Browny, Leighton, Fearon, Harris, Carden
but what do i know...

Re: tomorrows squad
I'd love Leighton to get in the team and stay in. I've never been the biggest fan of Brown as I don't think he is suitable for our style of attacking play, but he has got qualities.
People seem to forget that last season after only three and half games Leighton was being seen as the saviour of our season if he could get fit quick enough. I think he will be one of the real stars of our season if he gets chance. I think that Roscoe has been brought in to play alongside Mullin but I'd be interested to know if he is good enough to be the target man himself. Then we could have two sets of forward options

Re: tomorrows squad
Forgot about Branch....I'd start him on the left hand side, bring Whalley on later on when their defence is tiring.
Brown is also a good sub to bring on. Best finisher in our team!
