Re: tonights game?
another txt from spotland:
3-2 win FT, scorers mangy, whalley & smith ( youth team?)
Think we play Bolton in next round.
Although its that long ago since it was drawn I can't we sure.
Will look on LFA web site to see if anything there!

Re: tonights game?
All three good goals.. Smiths was a cracker
Jay Bell (Son of Jimmy) made what presumably is a 1st team debut .. A hard faught match.. this was no friendly atmosphere I can assure you..
Att was about 70 at a rough guess.

Re: tonights game?
Just got back from spotland an I have to say the difference between the teams tonight was after Andy Todd came on. Obviously different class. But to be fair, there looks to be a fair smattering of talent in our youth system. Smith, Bell (before he was subbed) and Joel Byrom all played their part. Bavs was at fault for their first goal, seemed to hit his chest and then bounce over him into the net and wnet walkabout on a couple of occasions. Maybe a goalkeeping coach is required again. All I can say about Rochdale is they will be playing Macclesfield and Morecambe next season probably, in the Conference.

Re: tonights game?
He got his hand to the ball for what would have been a good save.. but there must have been a wicked spin and it hit hand/arm and went in... that was from my angle... could have been either as we where at opposite side (only seen ya on my pics )

Re: tonights game?
I first thought the match was being played behind closed doors as all the turnstiles were closed. I walked all the way round the ground, only to find the one turnstile open was right next to where I started from. home and away fans were all together, creating a bit of banter. I don't know about the gate but I'd guess about 100 with a 50/50 split.
I think Smith has a good future, he looked liveley and had good composure. I don't know who our number 5 (kept calling him pretend Welchy) was but he had a good half a game, I wasn't impressed with Curtis Macdonald I'm afraid to say.
The ref must have given Mangy and Danny Ventre about 5 final warnings each.
The match definately changed when Toddy came on.
The Rochdale number 11 went down in the penalty area, but it seemed to take about 5 minutes for him to hit the floor, very animated and comical, ref must have thought so too as he didn't give the decision.

When we went 3-2 up some Rochdale lads behind me started chanting 'We're going to win 4-3': and amazingly, they didn't!!
No 5 foir the first 60 mins was Ash Foyle - remember him? may not have been on the team sheet, but still a decent player. Always seemed to be covering when their player nipped through. Came off for Toddy (to play 3 at the back), & it certainly changed the game.
Anyone notice Mangy's celebration on winning the toss as captain? Almost
as pleased as whewn he scored on Saturday.

Re: tonights game?
Starting eleven was
Dunbavin
Ventre
Dugdale
Foyle
Peter ? (Jay bells mate from youth team)
Jay Bell
Harris
Byrom
McDonald
Mangan
Whalley
Subs:- Smith,Todd, Williams, Richardson, Jacobson
I have to say on this showing Curtis McDonald is up their with Bossu and Crichton for one of the worst players t wear the shirt. He just looked disinterested and lazy, his first touch was horrible and for a tall lad he was useless in the air. How he's at cardiff I'll never know!!!
