Re: Tony Roberts

If memory serves me correctly, in the conference days he once gave a fan a fingered gesture for giving him abit of banter. Could be wrong although.

Re: Tony Roberts

No idea why it started, but I reckon it goes on because he enjoys it so much !

Re: Tony Roberts

a goalkeeper who ignores the crowd will go no attention other than the occasional 'banter'

a goalkeeper who gives the crowd some hostile attention will get grief every subsequent visit

a goalkeeper who clearly loves it and gives it back quite so eloquently as Tony Roberts will get good natured banter every time.

a real character and one of those "I'd love it if ..." type keepers. Unfortunately he tends to get the better of us (not necessarily the team) such as the penalty save from Proccy last season. He'll be missed when he retires.

Personally never had any time for that sort of thing but can why it appeals to spend half the game slagging them off!

I think the incident you are referring to was when he was about to take a goal kick and saw a Stanley fan with a burger, he asked him for a bite and when he gave him the burger Roberts threw it away and laughed.

Exclamation Re: Tony Roberts

Just cannot start to think about The Daggers going up to League1, on the other hand, cannot bear to think that I would rather have a Team from Y***shire going up instead Maybe, if Daggers go up, then Tony would consider a move to a proper League2 club!!!

Re: Tony Roberts

If Dagenham do go up Roberts will have a great and appreciative audience in front of the Kop at Hillsborough.

Every cloud has a silver lining.

23,000 at Hillsborough yesterday got to see the great man. To quote their threads:

"Roberts was great first half taking some right stick off the north stand, what a character."

Came across this in the Tony Roberts memorabilia
