Travel news for Macclesfield

For all those travelling to Macclesfield on Saturday.

On the A523 (London road) from Hazel Grove to Macclesfield, there is a 4 way set of temporary traffic lights in the centre of Pointon. These lights have a 6-7 minute cycle and delays are upto 25 minutes during the week, I'm not sure about Saturday, but at around 1pm on Saturday 1st October, the southbound queue was almost as bad as it is midweek.

There is also a further set of temporary lights (2 way) towards Adlington Railway station, but these don't hold you up as much, maybe 5 minutes at the most.

An alternative route exists by using junction 3 of the M60 and following the A34 towards Wilmslow.

Here is a route plan off google maps
Kingsway/A34 to Moss Ln - Google Maps

I'm thinking with the thousands of Accringtonian travelers, the temporary lights may cause some problems

Re: Travel news for Macclesfield

I travel in the area all the time and its an absolute nightmare agreed.

Via Wilmslow A34 as u said is by far the best.
