Re: Travel to MK Dons
As a native of quite near Plastic Town, I managed to get to the MKStadium for the recent England Under-21s game. Here are a couple of travel tips:
1) The New Ground is just off the A5. Not sure how well signed it is, as I know where it is, so don't look for them. It's near IKEA, which is well signed.
2) Parking. There's loads of it and it's £5 per car. There are wardens on at the Asda (next door) and signs there stating that no football traffic is allowed. We parked at Asda, watched the match and then shopped. I guess if you keep your receipt, you have proof, but I've heard it's enforced much more when MK are at home. Pains me to say it, but I'd probably pay the fiver.
3) Food/Drink - no idea, as they'd sold out of both by half time!
4) Toilets, plenty of them, although Mrs BedsRed did report flooding in the ladies. Perhaps not a good day to wear open-toed shoes.
5) Pubs. The new ground is in the middle of a trading estate in the middle of nowhere. It's probably slightly nearer Bletchley than it is to Milton Keynes, but Bletchley makes Nelson look nice. Usual plastic facilities and chain pubs abound in the centre of Milton Keynes. If you do find a nice pub, let us know!
Sadly I won't be at the game on Saturday (I'm involved in local football elsewhere), unless there's a torrential downpour and my game is off...
Those of you who are going: enjoy!
