Truth ?.. or merely Telegraph Hype ?.

FROM TONIGHT'S LANCASHIRE TELEGRAPH......
Accrington Stanley have been urged to apply for funding for a planned £1.2m ground redevelopment.
When the Reds first announced plans to revamp the Coppice end last year, bosses were hopeful of getting funding from the Local Enterprise Growth Initiative, known as LEGI, which supports small businesses, and had also planned to apply for back-up funding from the Football Found-ation.
Though a planning application for the scheme was expected within the next month, and ‘phase one’ building work expected to begin this summer, no funding application has been made to LEGI, which was expected to fund the majority of the £1.2million needed.
The Football Foundation also said the club had not yet applied to them for a Football Stadia Improvement Fund grant.
It is not known whether the club have made applic-ations to other funding sources, as Accrington Stanley chiefs were unavailable for comment.
Hyndburn Borough Council, which as the local authority is responsible for assessing LEGI bids, said it had not received an application.
Council leader Peter Britcliffe said: “The situation at the moment is that they simply have not put forward any bid. Though they made some initial enquiries, they have withdrawn. LEGI funding is administered by the local council and we would have expected to see an application by now, considering their plans.”
The development plans had involved putting a roof on the Coppice Terrace, and putting the entire ground under cover.
Plans were also said to involve new changing rooms, redeveloping the club car park and replacing the temporary cabin control room with a purpose built facility.
 • Seems unbelievable to me !.....BUT THEN ?.

PS....The Telegraph also report on the possibility of another Transfer Embargo !!....Is there NO good news ??????.

Ilyas has been very quiet in recent months. I for one would like to see a post from him to clarify several issues that have been raised in various threads.

Re: Truth ?.. or merely Telegraph Hype ?.

I thought we all knew that the LEGI wasn't happening. That is why we WERE going for the Blackpool stand! Nothing new there.
As financial concerns go- Do you mean Jase's post on the ultras site where a player told him at the boxing that they hadn't been paid again.

The question, though, is WHY isn't it happening? Are the club looking a gift horse in the mouth?

Re: Truth ?.. or merely Telegraph Hype ?.

as far as I know - using some truths and then fleshing it out.

the funding wouldn't have been 100% of the total cost - we don't have any money to add to the 90% or whatever so that's a cross in box 1

as part of the application process we would have had to undergo thorough financial investigations to ensure that we are a business worth 'investing' in. I am not for one minute saying we are crooked, but we still haven't filed last years accounts so we would be putting a cross in box 2

the club do not want to build something that is based on other public bodies perceptions of what a football club should build, ie a seated stand is no use to us, we'd much rather have a terrace. Grants are dependant on seated stadia so that's a cross in box 3

any application would have been a waste of time, effort and money so none was made.

In my honest opinion.

Re: Truth ?.. or merely Telegraph Hype ?.

This post taken from Ilyas on BBC Radio lancs Thread should clear up any thing you have asked in this thread.[B]Re: Ilyas on BBC Radio Lancashire[/

Mr T, over the summer we must work as a club to meet the minimum club for FL. As i said on the radio I dont think ASFC will be moving anywhere for a while. The plans that I want to develop will take some time. And the local authority (and possibly LCC) will need to be absolutely part of the vision and partners in the roll out. So, briefly, you are right, but in the interim we must not take undue advantage of the goodwill of the FL, and we need to do a fair bit of renovation work (not least the pitch !)

cheers
Ilyas

So i would say that mr oneil has his hands tyed with what he can aply for and what the club can aford IMHO
