Re: V Bradford todays game thread

Just got back as well.
Both stanley bookings where daft.
All the team played well, nobody was outstanding.
We lacked pace going forward and a few counter attack opportunitys where soon ended by the lack of players to exploit pace.
Overall a decent point - but one point I must make, league 2 is no where near as hard to win this year compared to the previous year.
Bradford are nothing special.

Re: V Bradford todays game thread

Been to todays game, decent point and almost nicked it at the end, how we need a striker though(preferably Gornell)! Mullin so isolated, but nevertheless good point.
Must disagree wih one point of previous post saying no outstanding players, Kenny Arthur for me was fantastic today, not only his 3 superb saves in first half injury time (incidently in the 5th minute when 4th official signalled 2 mins, bloody ref!), but also his command of his box, compare with that joker Bradford had and makes you realise how lucky we are to have him!

We did get murdered in the first half, but some fine goalkeeping and desperate defending in front of the huge, intimidating kop end saw us through to half time still in front. I thought the floodgates would open after they equalised but instead we gave as good as we got and even looked calm in possession, with Ryan and Proccy biting hard in midfield. The lads gave it everything and could even have nicked the win. Mully's booking was an absolute disgrace, and he was mauled throughout the game by their meathead of a centre half.

Re: V Bradford todays game thread

Thought today was a committed gritty and determined performance. Every one dug deep for the point and never gave up on a win. Special mentions for Kenny (brilliant stops), Phil Edwards (superb composure and dribbles out of defence), Jay Bell, Andy Procter , Jimmy Ryan and Mullers (never a booking).

That's not to say we did not play some very good football. We looked the technically better side at times.

What superb saves by Kenny and that fantastic tackle late on as the Bradford player was about to pull the trigger for the winner.

And Jimmy Ryan sped across the pitch to make that interception and nearly turned it into an attack.

Bonus was to meet and shake hands with Eric on the way in. Thinking back to when Haggis and Co used to play my then local team Skelmersdale United at White Moss Park to play and compete on equal terms at a recent ex Premiership Stadium with a fraction of the resources. He John Jimmy and the others who have contributed to where we are now should feel immensely proud. Everyone should to pull together to make sure we stay there.

As a Wednesday fan it was nice Paul Heckinbotham's four year old daughter was one of the mascots (and that some of our fans at least clapped them off) and a surprise that other Stanley fans had taken such an interest in Graham Lee's career to date. Got to say he was a pretty immaculate player when they were in League One. Paul McLaren was another ex Owl.

Left my car at Menston and came in by train. On the way back Bradford fans (must have left well before end) were complaining that they were "second best to everything".

"Two wonderful saves".

Jimmy Ryan "good quality on the ball".

We "were better side after they equalised".

Miles a "good footballer" gave them "problems playing off Paul Mullin".

McCall post match BBC interview:

Booking of P Mullin viewed by Bradford blog

"The booking for the lad "diving" was potentially the worst decision I've ever seen. Someone really should tell refs, that people go down when they're tackled. "

Re: V Bradford todays game thread

before game i said i wanted aleast a point from today and we did! although for sometime i thought we should and could of won it! all the players played well today and put in a good effort! if we can keep playing like we have today than we will have no trouble keeping up! phil edwards is amazing at the back how we have kept onto him for so long i dont know but am glad we have! he is just top! and welcome back kenny, he did some great saves today to keep us in the game! jay bell played well today aswell! he just needs more experience and this is the only way he will get it! grant, ryan, turner, miles, proccy played well in midfield but we need another striker who has pace! to many times balls got pushed through and mullin was not quick enough to latch onto them! grant played good he put in top effort today! and at the end it was good to see kenny shout the players over to come and clap to us! role on darlington they will be in high spirts after the 5-1 win yesterday

I thought he was the worst Stanley player on the park, kept giving the ball away to the opposition, lazy at defending, needs another kick up the jacksy for Tuesday night

Re: V Bradford todays game thread

Report:

Conlon to rescue as City struggle again (From Bradford Telegraph and Argus)

Like this bit:

"McCall looked fit to burst on the sideline, remonstrating with the fourth official. Then he recovered his sense of humour to fetch a pair of gloves from the dugout which he waved in the direction of the Accrington defence! "

Re: V Bradford todays game thread

Vital Bradford on Paul Mullin booking etc:

"After the game I heard people saying it was a dreadful dive but from where we were we thought it was quite a let off and couldn't believe we'd got away with it again."

I voted for Luke O' Brien as their man of the match.
