Re: vs Bradford
Poor second half display - yet again the away team came out with fire in their bellies and we surrendered the initiative which we had in the first half without really troubling their dodgy(?) keeper. Bav's lack of command in the air cost us the crucial goal and for all his shot stopping ability the other elements of his game do not compensate for this and his awful kicking. Toddy did fine but is understandably lacking match fitness and I thought the substitutions were correct but about 10-15 minutes too late.
How can we ever get a decent home gate at this rate? Dennehy was more of a threat in his 15 minutes than Miles showed all afternoon.

Re: vs Bradford
A crap performance on the whole but I still think that we were unlucky not to steal a point. The header from the free-kick was almost in but they got lucky with it coming back off the bar. We were denied a blatant penalty from Mark Heywood-the substitue ref. As well as that we were robbed of a few minutes at the end of the game as I'm almost certain that the fourth official put the board up 2 or 3 minutes early (according to my mobile phone). Yes we lost 2-0 but you never know we may have equalised in that time. Make no mistake though, the better team on the day won.
The changes that Coley made seemed to work but once again they were too late. I reckon Leighton McGivern needs to start a few games as he looked lively and I would say that he is our best finisher. Also perhaps Dunbavin should distribute the ball differently now and again rather than smacking the ball up the pitch where players like Harris and Roscoe have no chance of winning it against the tall centre backs.
Great to see Andy Todd playing for us again. Hopefully he will stay longer than the 1 month.
Final point about matters off the pitch. When Barry Knight was down injured, fans in the Clayton End were chanting "we hope he's dead" etc. Obviously nothing was meant by it but personally I think it shouldn't be done when you look at what as happened in recent times. Take Saturday for example with Phil O'Donnell. My point being that it is one step too far in my opinion.
Hopefully we will soon start to win at home again.

Totally agree on this, no need for it at all against anyone but to do it with the ref aint gonna do us any favours by his replacement is it.

Re: vs Bradford
I was suprised to see Dennehy on today, thought his loan had finished so just checked the fishy site and it says
Quote:
Billy Dennehy joins on loan from Sunderland
John Coleman has brought in left sided midfielder Billy Dennehy on loan from Premiership side Sunderland until January
|
Hope that's mid January and not the start of it, don't want to be playing ineligible players do we

Yes, the chants of, "You're not fit to referee", though obvious, were a lot funnier, and the Bradford lot joined in, humouress Yorkshiremen, what's the world coming to?

Re: vs Bradford
Well there was nothing inspirational about that match but great to see Toddy back.
My sentiments exactly BT yhe "hope he's dead" chants are not funny and never have been...must admit didn't realise it was the ref that was down at the time!!!!!!!! But no matter who's on the floor those chants are never warrented!!

I agree with you well said, it was sick always has been sick to hear chants like that especially when players haave died on the pitch, & happening a lot more recently, no matter what team they play for they are a person with family after all

Re: vs Bradford
Great to see Toddy back where he belongs & soon to have another player on a 2 year deal no stranger to ASFC, tho with all the good news i fear some bad news ahead other that the home play is still as bad despite a positive 1st half! Give Coley credit he did sub when called for tho, for a change

Also the couple of not so young, so-called Stanley fans who ran down to the front at full time to abuse the City goalie with throat cutting gestures and obscene threats to jump over the wall to confront him - what the hell had he done wrong to deserve such shameful treatment? Could it have been because he was black? I bloody well hope not.

Agreed with your other points but the full extra time was played. Yes, the 3 minutes were announced well before the end of normal time, but this was taken into account and we got just over 3 minutes of actual added time after the 90 on my stop watch.

That is out of order, tho to be really fair to their goalie, he had humour & took it all well - the banter im on about a few of us clapped him for that, tho his timewasting didnt help matters but again for the most nowt untoward other than that - shame a few can spoil it.

Re: vs Bradford
1st half of the match i saw the old spirit come back & 'potential' & yes on that strength we were robbed - tho i think we gave up all to easy once they scored, my biggest gripe then was lack of team play & bloody high ball kicks, whereas they caught us out a lot because of that, they got it back to the floor & got the results.

He didn't take well what I have just highlighted - he looked really upset by it, especially as he had taken all the harmless banter in good spirit. This final abuse was really, really nasty though

Re: vs Bradford
First half we looked quite good lots of play to feet and a couple of decent chances
Second half we were second best and credit to the Bantams they got the ball down and always looked capable of scoring, The long ball from the back is so predictable and when you bypass midfield it just comes straight back,
substitutions did work to a degree we did look more up for it without the end result.
But it is becoming increasingly frustrating if only our Home form matched our away form we would be sitting pretty in the play off zone. At home we should be dictating play not inviting away teams too
