This was the one occasion, surely, when the players deserved an arm around the shoulders rather than a rollicking?

Re: vs Bradford City

Shouting at players on occasions like this achieves nothing.

Definately indeed, they didnt play bad at all, just a lapse of concentration with subs etc, i did offer free hugs to compensate but they were too down to accept - think hugs would of made a difference to the next match tie, the players need like children do which is positive praise is neccessary to get the best out of them!

If we don't give the players credit for the considerable positives their morale could go down the plug hole leaving us with a long winter.

You're in another bloody country and you could see that Coleman was on the bloody touchline and couldn't.

[quote=Tin Monkey;640296]I think every player gave everything they had this afternoon. The fact that we lost in the way we did was particularly devastating.ith

With a bad decision by the Referee too T-M !....
Instead of slapping Colbeck on the wrist, after Booking him and warning him again and again, he should have definately sent him off for the foul on John Miles!.
This would have prevented him from going on the run which led to their winning goal !
JC was rightly incensed by this decision which probably lost us the match !.
The players can therefore hold up their heads with some pride following a performance which in skill and spirit by far outweighs anything we've seen for a long while!..
We can all, in spite of the few who always criticise, help to lift the Team and it's Management from what must be a deep trough of despair by offering as much praise for their efforts as we can muster at this time !

From me Reds...WELL DONE TODAY !! and really stick it up the Hatters next Saturday !.
BECAUSE you've got what it takes to do just that !!

'ON STANLEY !.....ON !!!!'

Re: vs Bradford City

Yonmon , I agree that the team played much better than against Rochdale and for 80 mins it looked pretty impressive. BUT ... to start blaming refs is clutching at straws. Let's face it we were tactically inept. JC's creed is that attack is the best form of defence but he was outwitted by McCall yesterday. Bradford threw everything into attack and we wilted. When Conlon came on we were faced with three quality attackers (Thorne and Boulding being the others) and we didn't (or couldn't) change our tactics to cope. Yes attack had given us a 2-0 lead but with 10 mins to go we don't need to score again, we just need to keep the ball and wind the clock down. Switch PMullin to defensive duties (1.e. Conlon probably would not have won all three headers that lead to goals if Mullin had been marking him) and we may have got at least a point from a game which we really looked like winning for 75 mins

Instead of burying our heads in the sand, why dont we face up to a few harsh facts....

1) The team, be it management, players or fans cannot keep bleating about how poor or inept officials have been and using this as an all too convenient excuse as to why we have yet again got nothing out of a game.

2) From a position of being dominant, 2-0 to the good,we have managed to lose a game which we should have won.Instead of "putting the game to bed" so to speak we again find ourselves licking wounds, consoling ourselves and blaming others. Anyone remember Huddersfield Last year ??

3) 1 point from a possible 24 is RELEGATION FORM whichever way anyone wants to dress it. Forget points deductions- If this form is to continue and if we keep defending as we have been, then the Conference is beckoning.

4) Home form- ABYSMAL- 18 defeats out of 28 speaks for itself. Last year away form practically kept us up. This year we have the " Luxury " of other teams having points docked. Luton may indeed be doomed. Rotherham have wiped out their own deduction and Bournemouth have so far reduced the gap by 3 points in 11 games. Anyone want to keep relying on Bournemouth staying behind us with the points deduction??? If we can't hold a two goal lead, what chance of this side, having a 17 point start, finishing below Bournemouth.

5) Despite attempts to address the "goals conceded" column,Ala recent signings, it is still alarmingly easy for the opposition to score against us.Too many mistakes, the same old culprits....will we EVER learn ?? The personnel may have changed slightly but the same frailty remains.

6) Worryingly, we have a considerably smaller squad than last term.Somewhat shored up by loan signings, If injuries and suspensions begin to bite, how do we drag ourselves away from what is all too apparent now..... a relegation fight ???

Alarm bells are beginning to sound, will somebody realise, preferably sooner rather than later, that these problems need to be addressed and URGENTLY ???

Yes. I said "Huddersfield - here we go again" as soon as Bradford scored.

Re: vs Bradford City

Gornell is a big positive. Unlike Jamie Clarke he works alot harder, physically more involved and has a better positional sense. Tranmere have 6 strikers to choose from including Gornell, so lets see if Ronny Moore will let him stay for another month.

Look at it this way - against Rochdale the lads concentrated and played good football for the first 30 minutes before they let it slip. Against, Bradford they did the same thing for the first 80 minutes. If Coley can get 'em up to the full 90, we've got it cracked!
