Constantly being on his ample arse but throwing a hissy because he didn’t always “win” a free kick by falling over? That seemed to be his MO.
Other than one grown-up infant* trying to spoil the game, it was yet another a good, exciting match at The Wham.
Overall, draw probably a fair result but Stanley should, could, and would have won had they taken just one of the several good chances they created. Felt for Shaun Whalley at the death.
But the first half was a tremendous display from Stanley. Everyone played really well, especially Seb Quirk as stand-in left back. They deserved more than a one goal lead.
Second half, Colchester upped their tempo, starting with the ever dangerous Kyle Taylor up front and making subs every ten minutes between 55th and 75th minute to maintain a fast pace. Stanley’s players flagged, understandably, and again the subs were made too late. The captain was out on his feet by the 50th minute, and others not far behind.
But no one can deny we don’t get to watch action packed football at Whambley.
* he just beat the ref to that title.
