Re: vs Colchester

What a tremendous result and performance.
Two more goals from Shaun but the defence must’ve been on form too as Colchester had 0 shots on target!
Well done to all the lads on the pitch and the fans.
A trip to Anfield is a deserved reward for them all.

Re: vs Colchester

Tremendous result for sure, but Colchester were poor and unable to exploit the opportunities that our own shortcomings presented them with. Ben Woods has numerous qualities, but he is not a left-back or left wing-back and was horribly exposed at times in the first-half. Whalley was the difference, two moments of quality won the game. Reminded me a little of the Wimbledon game where we worked extremely hard off the ball to deny them opportunities whilst taking the chances we created - the difference being that Colchester didn't pose any kind of attacking threat themselves.

Re: vs Colchester

You’re right, Phil, Ben Woods is not a natural left (wing) back, and I’m sure he’d be the first to admit it.
But he’s been willing to do it in the absence of O’Brien and Batty.
I’m sure, like against Grimsby, Ben Woods would rather be in midfield where he can and does have more impact.

Re: vs Colchester

Absolutely, Exile. But he's a miss in midfield, because with Ben in the midfield engine room, there is better defensive cover. We were a bit lop-sided yesterday in the sense that Josh Woods put in a big defensive shift on the right helping Don, but this was less true down our left. We won't get away with that on Sat!
