Re: Vs Notts County
I agree Dav.
Im just delighted to have a football club to be honest.
Its just massively disappointing losing when we know we can beat anybody in this division on our day

Not disagreeing about being a great season with everything that has gone before but:
Like it or not success brings it's own rewards in terms of bigger crowds and rewards off the field, keep in the mix till the end of the season get the season tickets sorted and we may break this seasons records for sales
This team right from the kick-off this season has played good football until lately where route one seems to have made a return, we have better players than that, it is a squad game if players are genuinely knackered or just going through a bad spell rotate the squad give others a chance to prove themselves.
Expectation levels have increased this season in respect of some of the great results and runs we have put together in the League & Cups and that in itself brings it's own pressure with teams perhaps looking at us as a "Big Scalp"?
I genuinely believed this Team were good enough from August for Automatic Promotion, I still believe we may make the play-offs but the corner has to be turned soon.
I pesonally will be massively disappointed if we don't make the play-offs because I know we are good enough and that is my frustration

Re: Vs Notts County
I just think that after we went 1 down, things changed, I felt as though we had had some bad luck - should have had a goal, but did not, their penalty was very soft, Bavs saved it, but they still scored!! That was how I was thinking/feeling after half an hour and I think that after watching the rest of the game, that is how some of the players played out the rest of the match! I guess what I am trying to say is that some of the lads felt sorry for themselves and that it was not going to be "Our Day"
This is understandable, as we are all only human, but as many have alluded to, fresh legs and fresh faces, may have made a difference. Just my opinion
We are still in the best position that we have ever been in and yes we are upset at not being in playoffs, but it beats - hands down - looking for those last three wins to get us to safety!!!!

Re: Vs Notts County
Let's be honest, we could/should have been 2 up in the first quarter hour. Bobby Grant missed two sitters. Yes, the referee was a banker - too many fouls went unpunished in addition to the goal/non-goal and dubious penalty.
Michael Symes looked tired, I thought. I too am mystified by the failure to have Chris Turner in the starting 11.
I thought there were two big differences between the teams yesterday. County were quicker, and they were able to pass the ball into space knowing that a player would be there to run onto it. If we are not hoofing it down the middle, we always want to play to feet.
Having said all that, I don't share the doom and gloom of some comments. We were beaten by a dubious penalty, a tragic error by our most reliable player, and an outstanding goal, whilst having a goal of our own disallowed in strange circumstances.

Re: Vs Notts County
Agree 100% with that Joe, the decisions on the goal that wasn't/was/wasn't changed the game, our lads let it affect them when on another day they would have dug in & vowed not to be cheated out of a game.
No, we didn't play well but to be honest I didn't think County were any great shakes either but when Mr. A. Hall (aptly named I thought) allowed their players to influence his decision on our 'goal' he lost control of the game & the respect of the players on both sides.
Mistakes were made by a few yesterday but I thought for Coley to squarely put the blame on Phil was unfair, yes he made a big mistake for the second goal but how often does anything like that happen with Phil?
I think the amount of games we've had to play with such a small squad is taking it's toll on the lads and maybe the decision to have a friendly with Wrexham this week (the only one for a while when we had no midweek game) was maybe not the right one.
That said, I reckon we'll be back on track on Tuesday - yes we're having a blip but as others have said at least we know we're not going to be in a relegation dog-fight this season.
On Stanley On!

Well, he wouldn't accept any blame himself, would he? Land the blame on the lad who has been our most consistent performer over the last few seasons. It has been mentioned before that the defence always look shaky with Dunsavin behind them. Time for Bouzanis to return.

Re: Vs Notts County
i left yesterday in protest due to the goal that he gave then changed his mind when he got mugged by lee hughes and co....its just not fair. i was really mad and asked a steward to let me out. I did wait until the 2nd goal. sick to the stomach. how many more teams are going to get robbed this season by a dodgy ref.

Sorry don't agree with you yerself how can you blame Ian for saving a penalty which he has done on many occasion for the reds how many has Bouzanis saved cause hes had to try as of late.Bavs didn't tell phill to pass to hughes so he could score.

There was nothing shaky about it. Phil made an unfortunate and totally uncharacteristic error, nothing more and nothing less. Yes, this alleged shaky defence has been mentioned before, most recently in the Torquay thread. I thought it had been put to bed there.
