Re: vs Rotherham
So Coleman states his obvious desire to turn the F.E.S. into a "fortress" in the Observer, talk of reaching the play-offs from certain players??? The phrase " Delusions of Grandeur" springs to mind.
Totally abject performance today. Team selection and tactics played- once again mind boggling. The formation played today MAY work when we play away with the right personnel. But if we keep playing the same predictable formation at home it's no wonder so many sides are leaving with the points.
I can only assume that Webb was away on International duty this weekend and that Richardson was injured / suspended?? Boco certainly isn't the man to perform the role he was asked to play today.
I only hope that Coleman sits down and watches the video of that display and can pick out what went wrong today.Certain individuals are plainly not up to the task of what is required. Basic fundemental mistakes are costing us week in,week out. The number of times we lost possesion today was unreal.Instead of picking out the simple ball / pass, too many players gave the ball away cheaply.
Apparently Coleman has said that if certain players aren't up to what is being asked of them, he'll find replacements.Well, actions speak louder than words Coley. Wield the axe, cut out the "dead wood", work on the basics in training (i.e. how to defend and keep possesion) and work on the tactical side of things, ala team selection and formations, substitutions etc. Otherwise the more realistic end of season scenario will involve another "relegation dogfight".

Re: vs Rotherham
Really difficult to find any positives from the game today - the only word I can describe it with is BORING! For large parts of the game the lads looked like they hadn't played together before - what the hell was going on? We really missed Leam today, I presumed he must've been injured but it seems not, I asked him at half-time but he said he was fine but had been dropped completely and didn't really know why - I was gobsmacked!
On a positive note Leighton did make a difference when he came on but I did think it should've been Rommy who came off for him as maybe together Leighton, Roscoe & Mully could've found a way through and Rommy was knackered - only to be expected in his first full game after his injury.
Apparently Coley has been on the radio and said he wasn't unduly worried about today's performance - was he watching the same game??

Neither. He was fit and ready to go, but Coleman decided to play a centre midfield player as a left wing-back. Figure that one out.

Re: vs Rotherham
For the second week in succession, I have found myself disconsolantly nursing my post-match pint in the Crown, surrounded by hordes of over-excited tykes. It's not a pleasant feeling and what makes it worse is that neither Rotherham nor Huddersfield were anything special. Others have spoken at length about shortcomings in team selection and tactics and I would agree with them, but I will just add one observation - once again, the support from the terraces was absolutely superb with the noise level seeming to actually increase after we'd gone one down. Mr Coleman, you asked for vocal backing from the fans to spur the team on to greater things - we have kept our part of the bargain, isn't it time you kept yours?

Re: vs Rotherham
Quote from TM:-As a final note, I'm a long way from a McEvilly fan, but his booking was totally unfair today. Very poor decision from a fairly poor referee.
I'm not sure what view you had of the incident TM, however, from the angle I had (behind Clayton End goal) the Ref was I'm afraid right on this occasion, the first attempt by Evil to win the ball from the keeper was fair enough as said keeper did not have control of the ball, but when Evil turned round to come back up field he put his foot in again, this time the keeper had both hands on the ball............granted He didn't make contact but the Ref saw it as intent and was (in Law) correct to caution Him.
As for the rest of the Ref's display today, I entirely agree.........should have been at least 1 booking in the first 5 Min's for a Rotherham player (deliberate Handball), if not 2........foot up/studs showing on Proccy.......but I guess that set the tone for His dismal performance today .<!-- google_ad_section_end -->

Re: vs Rotherham
my view was first half was crap, ref was worse, improved a bit second half, could not understand why the sub came on for dsane, to me it should have been Paul Mullin, then at least their would be 2 strikers with a bit of pace to go at em. still enjoyed me afternoon, result apart.

Agree with you up to there, UK, then I think Evil, with his morbid sense of humour, thought it would be funny to brush the keeper's head with his boot. Maybe it would have been, in the park with his mates.

Well that throws yet another log on the fire, if He did 'brush' His head, then He was lucky not to have seen Red..........even on the Park with His mates!

Yes, the goalie's reaction was one of disbelief; as is mine, to be honest.
Thought Cav's booking had " normal service has been resumed " written all over it, especially as it was the only time he was near him the whole of the second half.

Wasn't a criticism of you. I actually thought we played 4-4-2 from the start as it didn't occur to me that Boco would play left wing back. I just thought that Richardson would naturally play there in a 3-5-2 rather than a central player so I assumed it was 4-4-2.
Just to agree with some of the other posts, Evil deserved to be booked in that inccident with the keeper. Yes the referee was rubbish but that was one call he did get right. At the end of the day Evil is still the same dirty, aggresive thug and clearly hasn't taken his punishment from the Peterborough game seriously. We would be better off without him.
Can't fault Mullin's effort and commitment but I also feel we should consider other options up front. McGivern scored a hat-trick for the reserves on Tuesday and looked dangerous yesterday- surely he should be given a start next week?
